About

The Inspiration

Hi i'm Lisa Skelly.

I am a passionate animal rights advocate and environmentalist. I opened Rekindle Clothing as a way to use my love of art to raise awareness and spread compassion.

Rekindle Clothing began in June 2017. I had been a vegan for two years at the time and the issues I had researched and discovered had shocked and appalled me to the point where I felt desperate to do something and bring about positive change. The idea behind Rekindle Clothing was to combine my love of buying second hand, with my passion for animal rights and the environment and tie it all together with my creativity!

I began painting and embellishing pre loved denim jackets and have gradually added new pieces and explored new ideas! I now have organic, fair trade tote bags with my designs on, I have hand painted activist patches and denim shirts.

I regularly create pieces for charities, sanctuaries and vegan groups. Sometimes I donate pieces to charity auctions, sometimes I sell pieces in my shop and donate all of the profits from the sale. I'm so pleased to have raised money for some incredible organisations such as, Viva!, Animal Aid, Save The Elephants, World Animal Protection, Surfers Against Sewage, Brighton Vegan Activists, Surf and Turf Sanctuary and Hugletts Wood Sanctuary.

I hope to continue spreading compassion and encouraging people to view our planet and all of the animals we share our planet with in a better light. Animals are not here for us to exploit. They live with us on this incredible planet. Our home. We have not only exploited the animals that live here with us for our own gain, but we have exploited our own planet too- polluting our oceans with plastic and tearing down our forests among many other things that threaten the very place we all live.

Thank you so much for browsing through my art work, taking an interest in the issues I am raising and, maybe even, ordering something from me to help educate people wherever you are in the world. I'm so grateful .

Thank you for reading

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

I take custom orders. I can create custom made jackets, shirts, wall art and patches. Please contact me to discuss your ideas. Please note that all of my artwork is inspired by animal rights and I usually only do custom orders that fit in line with my morals.

Can I send you my own jacket to paint?

Yes absolutely! I only ask that you do not buy a brand new jacket to send me. I accept jackets you already own or jackets you bought second hand.

Care instructions

I would advise against washing jackets and patches if possible. The fabric paint I use states that 30 degree washes are ok, however, due to embellishments, I would advise against machine washing. If you want to wash them, a gentle hand wash, inside out, would be best.

Are the jackets and shirts all second hand?

Yes. I only buy jackets from charity shops in order to avoid contributing to environmental and ethical issues within the clothing industry.
Due to items being second hand and up-cycled, PLEASE NOTE THEY AY NOT BE IN A BRAND NEW CONDITION. They may have a little wear and tear, they may have a small stain. I do my best to avoid this, but do not expect a brand new item of clothing.

How long do custom orders take to make?

Most custom jackets or shirts take around 10 days to 2 weeks to complete. Custom patches take up to 1 week.
PLEASE NOTE that these timings are subject to the season and the amount of orders I have. In busy periods, it may take longer.

What paint do you use?

I use Pebeo Setacolor, waterbased, non toxic fabric paint.

Do you donate to charity?

Yes. I often make pieces for charity auctions or donate pieces to raffles. I always have at least one charity item in my shop, meaning an item in which all profits go to a charity. I have raised money for various animal rights charities through my art work.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I use minimal packaging. I use acid free tissue paper to wrap my items. I send my items in either card backed, recycled brown envelopes or 100% bio degradable mailing bags. I NEVER use plastic packaging such as bubble wrap.

How do you ship your items?

All of my orders of £100 or more are shipped tracked and signed for, both in the UK and internationally.
International orders under £50 are shipped international standard, unless specified.
All other UK orders are shipped first class.
