After much preparing & thinking & hard work, I just started my shop, at the beginning of June, 2012. I am so excited to be here!

I have a ton of crafty interests, but never thought of myself as an "artist" since my drawing & painting abilities are null. But, I have discovered that my "crafts" ARE "art" & this brings me great joy!

I have always had a love of books. My first "bookbinding" experiences were as a child, putting together pieces of paper into books with staples, tape, or ribbon & writing stories & drawing pictures in them. We had a whole stack of these books on our bookshelf. Making books kind of fell off my radar for a while when I was a teenager & in college, but post-college I got back into it, and started crushing on that feel & smell of paper again.

I love the blank books I make! Hours can pass as I'm working on my books & it feels like minutes. I love that the creation of handbound books involves so many steps & skills. Not only do I get to work with paper, but I also get to hand-sew all of my books together. It is the combination of these skills that creates beautiful books!

We live in a highly digitized age, but I believe writing & reading from paper should not be lost. There's so much history with the process of writing information & memories down on paper! I feel a greater connection to words, drawings & photos that I can feel, smell, and touch than I do those I can only see & click on a screen. Do you feel this way too?
