Resa Design, LLC started in 2005 as a children's product company. Offering solutions for daily needs (like diaper changing at the mall) when there were no options. Times have changed, and so have we. Our kids are grown (and taller than me), and so has our experience and interests. We currently provide graphic design, marketing, consulting, and art direction to clients across the USA by night/weekend.
Things you might be wondering... or not... either way here you go:
1. WHY YOUR DAY YOUR STYLE?:
When Resa Design began back in 2005, the internet was still fairly new to everyone. Online shopping was still a newborn. (Etsy wasn't even a thing yet- gasp!) So after we designed our own very primitive website to sell my products on, I eventually did what every other online business owner at the time was doing, started a blog. It was called Your Baby. Your Style. and never really said very much, but let our customers keep up with us when social media wasn't yet a thing.
The early 2000's were a dark time for baby gear. Nothing available was "cool" or "modern". Which is why I was making my own stuff to begin with.
Longest story short... we got out of the baby business when the market tanked and online shopping took a huge downturn. I still was searching for ways to make my life more "my style" and so the name stuck around.
2. WHO IS TEAM TROYER:
Keith and I (Resa) have been married since 2001. We have two teen boys (who would like to remain namless), and a tiny dog named Ace.
Since we both LOVE graphic design, typography, photography, industrial design, and creating. While I'm mostly self taught out of interest and need, Keith has worked professionally in graphic design and marketing for over 20 years. (He's way more of a pro than me on the computer stuff!)
We totally geek out over great or functional design, usually more modern or vintage industrial. And we adore (although Keith would NEVER use that word to describe anything) helping businesses with their marketing and design needs. Our clients love working with us because we have honed in on mind-reading. Not really, but after so many years in the biz, we are much quicker at figuring out what you see in your mind or know you want, but can't create yourself.
3. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPER-ISH POWERS?
Keith is a wiz at professional printing and knows all the ins and outs to save you loads of time and costly errors.
Resa is a wiz at helping you find your style, or "look", on paper, in pixles, and more.
4. HOW DID YOU GET INTO HAND LETTERING, RESA?
In 2016 I picked up hand lettering with more intention than I ever had before. It was a cold winter and I really needed a "couch hobby" to get me through another football season.
I have always enjoyed playing with letters and layout, but am not the wiz on the computer side like Keith is. Hand lettering took lots of practice, but I finally figured it out and get loads of joy and peace from practicing and creating hand lettered projects.
By day I work in a public school office, and so many coworkers were asking me to "write" things for them and I hated saying no, but I also couldn't do it all. This pushed me to teach my first Modern Calligraphy class. We sat in tiny chairs, in a room that smelled like tempra paint and crayons, and I found a new passion... teaching! Since then I have taught over 100 adults and teens how to do Modern Calligraphy and Handletter. It's SOOOO fun!
5. WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE HOBBYS?
Our whole family loves pickin' or going to auctions. Our house is full of an ecletic collection of mid-century furniture and housewares, a large globe collection, and lots of vintage school items - like maps.
6. FAVORITE DESSERT?
Best keep secret... Cracker Barrel's Apple Dumpling. It's seasonal, but one of the most amazing sweets ever. Next on the list would be the white chocolate cheese cake we had in Bath, England on our honeymoon.
