PLEASE NOTE - a great deal of my work focuses on found markings, for example, stains, dirty marks, scribbles or annotations found on old paper, especially book pages. I will try and make it clear in the listing if there are subtle markings that may not be immediately noticeable when viewing images on a computer screen.

About

keeping it simple

Ephemeral materials and simple motifs are brought together to explore the abstract traces of life; to project the vulnerability of love, precariousness of life and inevitability of death which embody the complex and uncertain nature of simply being human.

I aim to keep my drawings as understated as possible and try to suggest a larger narrative by pairing the primal and elemental qualities of ordinary shapes with my fascination for used paper and the dirt, stains and markings they accumulate over time. I use these as a communicator for much bigger messages based on my musings around my barely tangible and sometimes overwhelming thoughts. For example, unfathomable nature of reality, an intimate moment which exists for just a second and is then forgotten or the impossibility of feeling how someone else feels; the list is endless...

My studio is located in the village of Gillingham on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, close to the market town of Beccles. The studio is open year round by appointment and visitors are always welcome to come and browse original drawings and prints. Please contact me for more details.

Prints will be sealed in a cello bag and sent flat, in a boardbacked envelope.

Larger prints will be sent with additional reinforcement to protect them from any possible damage in transit.

Original pieces will be sent bubble wrapped and boxed if framed or backed with cardboard and boxed if unframed.

Additional policies and FAQs
- What is an archival quality print anyway?
Currently I make all of my prints to order in my studio using an Epson R1800 printer with 8 color epson ultrachrome inks. Every image is printed on 285gsm Hahnemuhle Torchon paper which is an acid free, age resistant paper, bright white in color, heavyweight like a think card with a coarse surface like watercolour paper. The combination of the ink and paper gives an outstanding quality matt print with a wonderful depth of colour which is fade resistant for up to 200 years. Just check my feedback to see how impressed previous customers have been with their prints!

- Do you invite wholesale or consignment orders?
I'm always on the look out for galleries and stores to consign/wholesale with so please drop me a line at info (!@) oliviajeffries.com to discuss further.

- Do you invite custom orders?
If you have a particular size print in mind or would like to discuss custom sized matting and framing please get in touch for a quote.

- How often do you add new items to your shop?
I add new original pieces as and when they are available.

- How can I find out about regular shop updates?
Check up on my blog http://restless-things.com as I usually announce things there.
