Announcement    I've just picked up a very large (100s of yards) lot of new old stock vintage fabrics from between the 1940s and 1990s. Most are quilting cottons from the 1980s, but there are some older gems. I'll be listing a couple a week until I can get through them, starting with the older and more striking pieces.

Vintage sewing patterns and supplies.

I have been sewing as long as I can remember. I'd sit in the middle of the living room floor with a child-size sewing machine and Mom's fabric scraps and make Barbie doll clothes. This would have been before I turned 7 because we moved when I was 7.

Being from a family of sewers, I had generations of fabric and notions to play with. No patterns because they made their own. Since then, I've been adding to the inherited sewing sundries and since I can't keep it all, I share it here.

Vintage patterns appeal to me because of the beautiful artwork on front and the history of the changing styles. Even the way clothes are described tickles my fancy. The terminology is fascinating.

Come join me in my obsession with finding and collecting vintage sewing supplies. I'm happy to share my finds with you.

I have been sewing since my mom bought me a tiny sewing machine when I was in First Grade. Growing up in a family of sewers, I appreciate a well made garment. I have a vast collection of vintage sewing supplies & still love to play in the button box.

Special Note about Vintage Clothing, Especially Shoes: Fabric, rubber, foam, and other materials can degrade over time, which is something you should keep in mind, particularly when buying vintage shoes. I take care to describe, to the best of my ability, any imperfections or material degradation in the items I sell. However, I do not have the ability to know how much wear a vintage item can handle before it becomes unwearable.

Sizing: Please be aware that vintage clothing and clothing pattern sizing is quite different from today's sizing system. Though I give estimates of the current size of items in my descriptions, the only way to tell if an item will fit you is to compare the measurements given in the description to those of a similar item that does fit you. Full measurements are provided in all descriptions, and I am happy to give additional measurements if needed. (This goes for shoes, too, as they can vary greatly in sizing from brand to brand.

Note that the measurements given are the measurements of the *garment*, not of the person who will wear it. It is always important to make sure to allow an inch or so for comfortable fit, as straining against vintage fabric is not a good idea (unless it is a fabric with a fair amount of stretch). In other words, If the waist measurement given is 28", your waist should measure 26"-27" for the garment to fit you comfortably.

A helpful hint for determining whether a vintage item will fit you is to compare the measurements given with those of a similar garment that does fit you.
