About

love for each other. love for vintage.

We had a mutual love of vintage when we met, but it was the impulse purchase of a huge lot of vintage letterpress letters 3 years later that really got the ball rolling...

Julie has an art shop here on Etsy (http://joyfulstudio.etsy.com) and decided to sell off some of the letterpress letters there, first. But they were such a hot seller, and we already were consistently shopping for vintage, we decided to make a go of it, and in June of 2012, Reverse Chronology began...

We offer a wide variety of vintage goods, and our motto is; never buy anything to resell that we wouldn't want to keep ourselves. Sometimes this makes things difficult, because we want to keep so much of what we buy! But in reality, we maybe only keep 1 thing for every 10 or 20 we offer in our shops. We try to live by (and help others do the same) the advice of William Morris:

“Have nothing in your house you do not consider to be useful or beautiful."

Because Julie is also an artist, we occasionally "upcycle" some of our vintage finds. Though, we typically leave them as is, because we love the history, the feeling, and the look of vintage.

We take great care with each item sold, making sure it is true vintage, cleaning it (though sometimes we will leave any lovely patina intact), photographing it, and making sure that it is priced fairly when we list it in our shop.

We also sell locally (at Stars Antique Mall in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland), as well as at local flea markets and street fairs. But our Etsy shop is the heart of what we do.
