Announcement    **CLOSED Aug 17-24th- orders placed during this time will be mailed out by Aug 27th***
Hi!! I've been making reusable cotton masks (environmentally friendly and super comfortable) since April 7th. To date I have made over 425 mask on my own. I am up to date on all orders and can ship out within 3 days after orders are placed. The majority of masks that I have made were sold by advertising on Instagram and posting on NextDoor. I have mailed masks all over the United States to as far as New York/New Jersey and even Alaska. It's been amazing, helping people stay safe and keeping my small business afloat while Shelter In Place. I hope that people continue to wear masks and keep each other safe. It takes all of us to slow the curve. Thank you for doing your part and helping me to keep my dreams of being a small business owner, a reality.

Trading in my Acupuncture Needles for Sewing Needles

Once upon a time, my shop was called Iris & Daisy. I tried selling accessories that were hand knit and sewn using pieces of fabric that I collected over many years. I retired my shop when I moved to San Francisco and continued my schooling in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

As many small businesses, my private practice in San Francisco (Acupuncture & Massage Therapy) was forced to close in March 2020. In April, when PPE for healthcare workers was scarce and masks were required in San Francisco, I went to my storage unit and uncovered years of fabric I had stashed away along with my sewing machine.

What started out as an idea to make masks for myself, friends, family and some patients, turned into a business. I started off advertising on Instagram, then Nextdoor and now after reopening my shop, I'm back on Etsy. To date I have made 390 masks with the ability to make many more. The money made from mask sales helps to pay my office rent while we were Shelter in Place and now, when my office has reopened but only at 25% capacity.

At the beginning, fabrics used were part of my stash, dating back over 20 years. It was quite nostalgic to be making protective masks out of many fabrics that held a lot of memories. Currently, listed online are fabrics that I have sourced from local small businesses in the Bay Area as well as donations. All fabrics are cotton and all masks are 3 layers with a filter pocket. I have made a few tweaks to the original design to make them more comfortable and easier to wear/fasten/wash. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Please help all of us stay safe and help another small business stay afloat in these very uncertain times.

Stay safe. In Best Health,
Alex

Additional policies and FAQs
Due to limited supply of fabric remnants, most clutches and handbags are one of a kind (unless noted on item page). Jewelry is made free form, so no two pieces will ever be exactly the same, creating extremely original one-of-a-kind pieces that will add excitement and dimension to any wardrobe. Hand knit accessories can be ordered in a variety of colors and sizes. However, since all items are knit by hand, if ordering custom items, please contact me via email before ordering. Generally, there is a 4-6 week shipping time for custom orders, but depending on pre-existing orders, the time may be shorter or longer. Once we agree on color, size, style and timing, a special link will be created for your item which you can then purchase on Iris & Daisy Etsy shop. Once payment has been sent, creation of your custom order will begin. I promise to keep you up to date on the progress of your custom order and will notify you when the package has shipped.
