Making a connection, from my hands to your heart, one piece of jewellery at a time.

I have been metalsmithing for over a decade and have loved every single minute of it. I am self-taught and have made the exploration and mastery of different mediums my main focus. Enameling, keum boo and etching have always left me filled with excitement in all the possibilities that each separate technique had to offer.
As I have matured over the last decade, I have come to realize that what I was craving and that what my customers were also seeking, more than anything was a connection.
A connection to the past, a connection to our families and friends and lastly, a connection in the form of a piece of jewellery that means something beyond just mere decoration.
A couple of years ago I made a custom fingerprint pendant for a lady who had lost her daughter. I did not realize at the time how much of an impact that single piece of jewellery would make. I saw her face when she opened the box and immediately her eyes welled up and she thanked me with more gratitude and appreciation that I had received with any other client ever. I could palpably feel how much that little piece of silver meant to her and what an amazing connection she had with her daughter and what a beautiful reminder of that, I had created.
I felt so much gratitude that she had chosen me to create that for her.
And so it began....
In this crazy world we live in, I am so happy to be able to bring a smile in the form of custom fingerprint jewellery. Whether it is baby footprints or handprint for a new Mom or Grandmother, a beautiful wedding ring set for a happy couple or a Memorial piece for a loved one lost, each pendant, ring or bracelet is a connection that will last and be treasured for years and generations to come.

Fingerprint Jewellery

Upon purchase of your item, you need to send me a high quality (300 dpi) photo of an inked fingerprint to use for your piece.

How to Print and Send Your Fingerprints
Supplies Needed:
black inkpad

Press your finger into the inkpad, making sure all areas of your fingerprint are saturated.
Press onto a clean sheet of paper, making sure not to smear the print.
Use an up and down motion.
Do this several times before re-inking your finger so that the prints are lighter on each consecutive print. Take many fingerprints so that I can choose the best one.
Take a clear, steady photo of your fingerprints using your smartphone camera and save it.
Resolution should be at least 300 dpi.
Email your photo to me at rebeccageoffrey [!at]

Fingerprint Spinner Ring

The same technique is used for the Fingerprint Spinner Ring except that the whole length of your fingerprint is needed.

*If you live in the Kingston area, you can stop by my studio and I can help you take your prints with non-toxic, washable ink. Just contact me.

Baby Fingerprints and Handprints

Supplies Needed:
black inkpad
white paper
Getting baby's prints are a little trickier but definitely doable and worthwhile!
I recommend using only the footprints up until about six months.
After that time babies tend to open up their little hands a little more freely.
Ink baby's foot with the inkpad by holding the inkpad in your hand and tapping it all over their foot. It is best to sit on the floor while doing this. Firmly hold baby's foot and place on clean sheet of white paper, more than one time if possible.
Repeat with the other foot.
It does not matter if the impressions are all over the paper as I can cut them out and edit them to be side by side in Photoshop.
Take a clear photo of your fingerprints using your smartphone camera and save it.
Resolution should be at least 300 dpi.
