I started this shop in 2008 on Etsy. Before then, my twin sister and I developed our company, called "Twin Sister's Ink". We were, after all both twins, and considered the designs that we developed, our creative 'ink'.
We went to as many trade and craft shows as possible. We soon found out that our product was sort of unique. Our cute, funny, and edgy designs, on baby bodysuits (onesies), always sold well at craft shows. We were lucky enough to have several wholesale accounts also. Soon, our customers were asking where our brick and mortar store was. We didn't have one, yet.
In Missouri, my two grandchildren were the inspiration for so many of my designs. About that time, my daughter and her husband in North Carolina announced that they were pregnant. We moved to North Carolina to help take care of my third grandchild. I kept Twin Sister's Ink going, but I was on my own. So I changed the name to Rhoadworks, and started my new Etsy shop. I continued to come up with baby inspired designs. A nice thing happened about 3 years ago. I created a design inspired by our Chihuahua, Penny, "My Sister is a Chihuahua". After all, for any child who has a dog; that dog is a sibling. That one design led to another breed, then another and another. Today I have over 90 dog (and cat) designs. They are my best sellers. Our Penny passed away last year, but I will always be thankful for her inspiration.
Rhoadworks is part of my life. I run the business myself. I am it's only employee. I still get such satisfaction from running my own store. Every aspect of it. From the development of a sketch to a design, to the printing, packaging, and customer service and contact.
And by the way, my twin sister now has her own pottery company and store on Etsy..of course!
