About

Solving a Puzzle

My work in collage reflects the practice of putting things together. With glue, paper, photos, and other items I take what previously has been separate and assemble it into a cohesive whole. A key part of my work is humor. I love it when people smile or chuckle at what is going on in the work. I also think of collage work as solving puzzles. The materials are the pieces of the puzzle.

One important facet of my life is my unending struggle with mental illness. I deal with Borderline Personality Syndrome, depression, and PTSD, and art and my Etsy business are two of the things that enables me to cope with each day.

The theme of most of my work is a modern take on vintage things. I use vintage images of people in my work and frequently add a comment about modern things. Often the work has a very serious person pondering a silly issue or wishing for something very odd. Much to my surprise, one of my magnets was featured at #12 in the Christmas 2014 Eonline.com Kardashian gift guide - http://www.eonline.com/shows/kourtney_and_khloe_take_the_hamptons/news/606687/24-holiday-gift-ideas-for-the-kardashian-super-fan-in-your-life

I create my work in Central Falls, Rhode Island that's overcrowded with art supplies. I've been lucky enough to be part of an active arts community in Rhode Island, and have often participated in art festivals and exhibitions over the years. I'll be participating in several gallery shows in 2016, including one at the New Hope Gallery in Cranston Rhode Island, the Rhode Island State Administration building in Providence, and at the Inner Space Gallery in Providence, Rhode Island.

One of the things that I'm passionate about is bringing a love of creation to the elderly and disabled. Toward that end, I'm currently running craft workshops for them in my home city of Central Falls. I am always accepting donations. Please convo me if you'd like to help.

Thank you for dropping by my shop and I hope you are amused at what you find here.

Making art is what makes my life worthwhile and exciting. I am so pleased to introduce you to my world, and I hope you like what you see.

My style is vintage with an edge. I have a quirky, offbeat sense of humor and it takes a special person to 'get' it.

Thank you so much for visiting my shop. Come back soon!

Payment
I take PayPal, personal checks (in US currency only), money orders (I prefer those issued by your country's postal service in US currency), Etsy Gift Cards, and credit cards. For small items such as greeting cards I am happy to take unused U.S. postage stamps. Items will not be shipped until payment is received. If payment is not sent by Paypal or credit card, it must be received within 10 days (including weekends) of purchase or I will cancel the sale.

I do pay Rhode Island sales tax on all pre-printed items sold in my shop (in Rhode Island handmade items are tax exempt). Buyers are not charged sales tax directly; the tax is built into the item price.
Shipping
Shipping will generally occur within 1-2 business days from purchase unless there are extenuating circumstances, in which case I will notify you.

Large orders will be shipped via Priority Mail in the United States. Smaller items such as cards and magnets will be shipped in secure packaging via First Class Mail.

Attention buyers in Canada and other countries: the overseas postage rates charged by the USPS make me cringe, but unfortunately I have to charge a higher price for shipping than I'd like. Wherever I can, I will ship as inexpensively as possible using First Class International. And I will refund large overages ($3.00 and up via paypal or cash). Customs costs, if any, must be borne by the buyer.

Shipping costs will be borne by the buyer and every effort is made to minimize shipping costs while also ensuring that items are well protected against the ravages of the postal system's hungry mail sorting machines. And getting your purchase to you as quickly as possible.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you're not happy with an item, you can return it at your shipping cost for a full refund within 14 days. It would be a good idea to use delivery confirmation.

If an item is damaged on arrival, please contact me via Etsy email within 10 days with a photo of the damage and we can work something out. Items are unique so a similar or same replacement probably won't be available. If possible, I can make something else OR you can choose a different item at the same price.

I use Etsy shipping which tracks delivery. I will refund the cost for an item that the USPS has lost (ie there's no record of it ever being delivered via USPS tracking), but NOT if it has been listed as delivered.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do take custom orders. If it is an item under $20.00, I do not require a deposit. If you wish that I create a larger canvas in my general style (valued at $20.00 or above), I require a 50% deposit of the price charged. Please contact me and we will work out the details.
==========================
Items in my shop are generally hand-made and unique, although I can obtain professionally printed versions of my pieces if you wish - this would typically take 2-3 weeks. If you see a piece in my shop that you would like multiple copies of, please contact me via Etsy email to discuss this further. On occasion I can make a new item that is very similar to one listed if I still have enough of the materials I used. I will tell you if this is the case.

I am willing to work with brick & mortar and online retailers on carrying my items in their establishments. Please contact me if this is something you're interested in pursuing. I am currently a member of Etsy Wholesale.
