All about that color.

I got started with oil painting during my sophomore year of college when I took my first painting class. I was hooked from day one: the moment I mixed oil paints for the first time, it was like a light bulb went off - the color, the texture, the alchemy - I loved everything about it and didn't want to paint with anything else.

My start with other paint mediums came much later, when I found myself without a space for oil painting (talk about messy). It began as a way to keep painting until I could rent a studio, but I ended up appreciating watercolor for its own magical qualities, and acrylics for the quick drying time and easy clean up. Oil will always be my true love, but I now paint in all mediums.

My work is color-driven and based on process. I've always had a thing for color- growing up, you could find me huddled over a coloring book with my big box of Crayola crayons for hours on end. My favorite color was Jungle Green :)

I'm not tied to a specific subject or style; instead, I like to make work in collections and explore different ideas and processes through them. There's a similar quality that runs through each series, but the style is influenced by the process and philosophy behind the series. I usually write out a specific process for each collection before I start. I work intuitively and without a lot of preparation or sketching, so the clearly defined process is what keeps me from "just doing whatever."

I work as a software engineer during the day and while I love challenging the different parts of my brain, nothing will ever replace painting for me.

I would love to hear from you so please don't hesitate to reach out, whether it's to talk shop, ask a question, or simply to connect with a fellow art lover!
