Be a creator, it is your birthright. I am thankful for the abundance of a constantly giving world in which dreams come true. Thank you for helping these dreams come true through art, through life and sharing. My dreams are yours and together we make a difference. Be alive, be a dreamer, be a creator! It’s your birthright. What you see in art is a reflection of your own nature. This you respond to - this you keep with you always.

Thank you.

I love the detail and coloration as well as the fantasy subject matter, which exemplifies Mr. Cain's versatility. The piece arrived on time, and was very well-packaged. Rick Cain"s work came to my attention at a local antique place where I got "Transcendental White Wolf. I have since gotten two of "Wind Horse" and a "Wolf Trail" to be given as gifts. Getting an actual/original sculpture is on my bucket list. Long may you flourish and work your art, Rick Cain!

Biography
Since a very early age, Rick Cain has been pursuing a career as an artist. While most young boys’ dreams of their future change dramatically over time, Rick remained true to his conviction that he was born with a creative talent. Born into a military family in 1953, Rick found security and strength in his artistic ability during his adjustment to numerous moves around the country. Every day he would work to teach himself the techniques that have remained constant in every medium in which he has worked - great attention to detail, depth and dimension in both the human and animal form. Rick began working with wood at the age of twenty. He progressed rapidly past merely creating designs in the wood and discovered an ability to "release" the shapes and images inherent in the wood. By this time, Rick had settled in Florida and the indigenous tropical hardwoods lent themselves beautifully to the wizened old men's faces and graceful forms that Rick created. Within months, Rick Cain was showing at his first art exhibit. His professional career flourished with participation in hundreds of juried art shows, exhibitions and recognition through numerous awards. In 1988, Rick made the decision to offer his work in limited editions. Rick Cain's original works as well as his limited edition sculptures are in private and public collections throughout the world, including the collections of Bruce Willis, Kevin Costner, David Bowie, Wayne Newton, Tennille, Tina Turner as well as many other private collectors.

Terms Used - Artist Proof? Paint Model? Low Numbers?

Here are the descriptions of Artist Proofs, and Paint Models as well as the low numbers in the edition, such as 1/2000:

Paint Model - This is an authentic Paint Model from Rick Cain's personal collection - It was painted by Rick Cain as a model for the artists that would then paint the limited edition sculptures to use as reference - It is marked as "Model" on the bottom (it does not have the usual gold label, as it is not included in the edition, but created before it), and Rick has signed it in gold ink as well, certifying it's authenticity as an official model.

(Artist Proofs are the first run of sculptures produced, which Rick Cain uses to adjust and experiment with the paint scheme. Some very subtle differences in the painting vary slightly, and most have been hand painted on by Rick Cain himself)

Once a paint scheme is set, and the paint model and artist proofs are created and finished, the limited edition sculptures, starting at #1 in the edition begin to be produced! From this point on, very subtle variations might occur, due to the fact that each piece is hand painted by our artists in the U.S., however no variation should occur at this point. The very lowest numbers, usually number 1-10 are reserved for Rick Cain's personal collection. These are the most valuable in the actual limited edition.

The value of Artist Proofs, Paint Models, and sculptures numbered 1-10 is about the same. Some people prefer the first numbers in the edition from a collector's standpoint, just because it's neat to see #1 or #2/2000 on the sculpture, but many collectors prefer Paint Models or Artist Proofs, knowing the artist himself has worked on them! It is sort of a matter of choice.
