Announcement    Update! My soap lineup will be changing at the end of 2021 - some bars will be retiring, some new ones will be added, and some will be sticking around. And here's why:

I make soap with natural, plant-based ingredients - no fragrance oils or artificial colors or scents. I love working with flowers, herbs, and other raw ingredients to formulate my bars. In order to offer a strong, natural scent to the finished soap, I also work with essential oils, but it takes soooo much plant material to produce a small amount of essential oil. For example, it can take 6 pounds of lavender to distill down to just 1 ounce of essential oil. That's so much!

For a few years now, I've wanted to make this change, to greatly reduce or remove essential oils from my products. I much prefer working with my homegrown herbs and with wild plants - many of my favorite bars are crafted this way. It offers something more well-rounded, from the whole plant, and more formulated to support skin while being kinder to our resources and environment. This means that some of your old favorite bars will be leaving, and this makes me a little sad. But I know it's a good change, and it's time.

I'll be working through my current inventory of essential oils until they're gone, so you'll continue to see the old soap offerings until the end of this year. The soap that I'll be creating after that will all feature whole plant infusions and extractions with limited or no essential oils.

Thanks for reading! Please reach out with any questions.

About RidgesideSoapCompany

Sales 152
On Etsy since 2016

Ridgeside Soap Company makes soaps that are all natural, plant-based, and feature earthy, woodsy, and herbaceous scents.

We are a small soap company in Afton, Virginia, inspired by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Our handmade soaps are cleansing and moisture rich and are always free of palm oil, fragrance oils, and artificial colorants.

They are also biodegradable and environmentally friendly, so they are great to bring on outdoor adventures and camping trips! Plus they are gentle enough for kids and pets.

Because our soap is poured and cut by hand in small-batches, colors and design vary from bar to bar. Each one is unique and may have minor imperfections. A bar weighs approximately 4.5 oz.

In addition to soap making adventures, we run Ridgeside Bed and Breakfast, a five room bed and breakfast in Afton, Virginia. Join us for a getaway in the mountains for some fresh air, adventure, and comfort. For more information, visit ridgesidebb.com.

Some of our soaps are available seasonally; here's an outline to let you know when to expect your favorite bar:

Spring: Lemongrass

Summer: Basil Mint; Bee Bar

Fall: Cedarwood Cypress; Spiced Pumpkin

Winter: Petitgrain Orange

Rotating Year Round: Blue Ridge, Beer Bar, Coffee Poppy, Lavender Sage, Grapefruit Mint, Smoked Salt

    Owner, Soap Maker

Hi there! I'm the soap maker and dreamer at Ridgeside Soap Company. I've always loved plants, scents, and soap and they all kinda came together into this wonderful adventure. I love animals, knit and quilt in my spare time, and am a tea enthusiast.
