Snape's Ridiculorum is a wildlife preserve for Nonsense. What you find here will remind you of childhood – of made-up games with unexpected rules, of the twists of logic that only a three-year old can arrive at, of the juxtaposition of play and Grown-Up Things. Nonsense is an idea that smiles and reminds us that hopping is fun, that the smallest puddle of water is entertainment, and that questions are excellent tools for enlightenment. Nonsense reminds us that there are miniature wonders to be discovered all around us, if we just remember to squat down, stay still and quiet, and watch carefully. Then explode with delight when we find it.
I create prints, greeting cards, and misinformational diagrams. My work is whimsical, simple, and colorful. It reflects the child and the adult in me. It nourishes me.
I work in a sketchbook, and periodically scan the more entertaining Nonsense into my computer. I scan in the drawings because, often, too much life is lost when I redraw or even trace the original. Sort of like documenting my children's childhoods rather than living it with them.
I add digital color or watercolors. My printer is an Epson 1400, with excellent color consistency and richness. I use Epson watercolor paper, which is heavy, bright, and slightly textured. I spray-fix the print to protect the inks.
I hope you enjoy my work and find something that you like. Nonsense always needs a good home!
