Announcement   If you don't see exactly what you're looking for here, ask me! I create colorful calligraphic artwork, both Hebrew and English, for all occasions.

Most of my work is by commission. I start by interviewing my clients to find out not only their specs, but who they are and what they like. Then I sit down to sketch. Gradually I figure out how to express my clients' uniqueness through image and color.

Welcome to Risa Aqua Studio. I am a watercolorist and calligrapher specializing in commemorative art, including ketubot (Jewish marriage contracts) that have been joyfully signed by brides and grooms from coast to coast.

Whether the text consists of marriage vows, poetry or scripture, I use vibrant color and design in my work to illuminate its inherent beauty. My printed and individually-commissioned works of art serve to honor life’s memorable occasions for both individuals and organizations. They are often, but not always, given as gifts.

My work tends to be colorful, contemporary and whimsical.

I have done over 200 custom ketubot. They express the stories and values shared by each bride and groom, and reflect their preferences for particular words and images. Ultimately, text and painting coexist lovingly, serving each other well-like two partners in marriage.

I’m also introducing a line of non-custom ketubot in middle-price range. While they are giclee prints (not an original work), the lettering on the original was done by hand (not typeset). When I fill in the name, date, place etc. I will also letter these by hand. This gives the ketubah a completely handcrafted look, unlike any printed ketubah I've ever seen, and I hope and believe this difference in quality and value will be apparent.

If you’d like to know more about the process of commissioning a ketubah for a wedding or an anniversary, feel free to contact me via email (risa25@earthlink.net) or send me a conversation.

Thank you!

Returns and exchanges
If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please contact me immediately by email or convo so we can work something out. If you do wish to return a non-custom item, I would ask that you return the item at your expense, in the original packaging and condition.
Custom items may not be returned.

NOTE: If the item that you have purchased includes a frame, please note that the frames I use for my 8x10 prints are minimal black plastic. They’re not very high-quality, but I’ve sold hundreds of prints with them, and customers have been happy with the convenience and value of having a ready-to-hang piece. You may also purchase a print without the frame, and I’ll just send the print in a large envelope.
Payment
I accept PayPal, personal checks, and money orders. If you pay with a check, I’ll ship your item as soon as the check is cleared.
Shipping
The shipping time varies. It depends on whether it's something I have in stock already, or whether it's something I need to personalize and print or create from scratch.

Generally non-custom orders can ship in 3-7 days.

Customized prints generally ship in 7-10 days, as I have to get them printed (I don't print them myself).

Ketubah timing depends on when I get all your details for filling it in, and how quickly I can get approval from you and/or your rabbi or officiant.

For ketubahs and other custom orders, we can discuss a timeline (including a sketch) for the piece.
