Polymer clay lovelies and seed bead jewelry by Christi of rivervalleydesign
I am a self taught polymer clay artist, falling in love with the medium in 2006. Seed beads and weaving them into beautiful pieces of jewelry are another of my favorites! I am a wife, mother, grandmother and nature lover. Crochet and making my own handmade soaps and lotions are also on my list of good things!
I have always been a crafter, my Mom taught me how to crochet as a child. My Mom was very creative, although she didn't think that of herself. I have tried lots of different crafts, including scrapbooking, rubber stamping, flower arranging, embroidery, just to name a few. Once I found polymer clay, I turned what was just a craft into what I think is my art.
I dream about new & different textures I will try, what kind of shape to make and of course colors! Polymer clay gives me the artistic freedom to mimic many different types of natural materials. One polymer artist calls it the chameleon clay and I would agree.
I was introduced to bead weaving in 2012 and instantly fell in love with it. I find it so relaxing to stitch all those little beads! I started with an easy spiral bracelet and then moved on to free form. I tried bead embroidery and decided to add my own polymer clay cabochons and beads to the designs.
I have been active on Etsy since 2008 where I opened up my first shop, Cabin Fever Clay. I started out slow, listing just my polymer clay jewelry designs. After I wrote a short article for Polymer Cafe in August 2009, I decided to try writing polymer clay tutorials. I have had much success with my "Rocky Path Tutorial" thanks to a posting on Polymer Clay Daily and many, many references on other blogs.
I opened my 3rd shop called "chicmakinsoap" in January of 2016. After a little bump in the road dealing with breast cancer, I decided to start creating my own handmade body butters, lotions, soaps and scrubs. Several friends and family members helped test my first attempts and loved them! So I decided to open another shop to offer my all natural body products.
