I use recycled sheet copper and etch, hammer or enamel it. I create with gemstones beads, crystals. glass beads and charms as well.
Check out my unique etched copper pieces that are hand painted. Or my boho wrap bracelets or my sparkling suncatchers! I try to make a little something for everybody!
I do things that are a little different than what everybody else is doing.
I started playing with beads when my daughter was a baby. Over 40 years ago, I was out doing art fairs by the time she was in Kindergarten.
I took metal art classes classes in 2001 and learned the art of working with metal. I had some wonderful instructors, Dawn Nakanishi and Carol Holiday. I also had the opportunity to take and etching work shop from the late great Carol Webb. These three women changed my world of jewelry making forever! After a two year class marathon I stopped and decided to work on my style. Several summers ago took a workshop on torch enameling at Creator Haven in Watsonville from Evelyn Markasky. She is the forth woman to really rock my world of metal art.
I must mention Ellen Brown another late great woman who has been an addition to my art career. She and her husband Charley Brown graciously allowed me to use her wonderful images in my art. Some of my most popular designs are from her paper art from the 1960's.
I recycle everything from little plastic containers for my paint to using the back side of paper for my receipts!. Also bubble wrap from packages and tissue paper from Christmas and parties for packing. I have recently had to purchase shipping envelops.
I use all re-purposed copper and work environmentally friendly. I dispose of any waste properly.
The etching method is the way circuit boards are made. Special paper, special toner, hot iron and ferric chloride. Baking soda neutralizer, soap and water.
I paint with a metal patina paint and seal with NT Permalac.
My findings are high quality and contain no Nickle, zinc or lead. The Niobium ear wires are their own element and have worked well for my customers with sensitive ears.
