simple, easy, timeless, lasting, made with utmost care for all, slowly & mindfully

'g' roslie is an artist/designer with a deep & abiding love for creating mindfully made dry goods for the modern woman. the aim of her heart is to make simple, unfussy, easy to wear goods that are as beautiful on the inside as it is on the out. she also loves to cook & finds joy in visiting farmers at the market. she loves reading poetry but mostly loves living poetry. she loves people, places & things with a good story, a rich history, that certain 'je ne sais quoi'. 'g' is mostly drawn to a quiet, muted, zen aesthetic with an occasional pop of colors & prints. she believes all good & enduring things should be developed slowly, carefully with ample time & love. 'g' is an avid supporter & practicing member of the 'slow fashion movement'.

g. roslie + rizom designs (pronounced rīˌzōm)

my friends call me ‘G’.
i am an artist + designer + photographer. i live a life of a modern gypsy, forever on a quest to discover and learn, going from this place to that but always staying close to nature. i'm married to my best friend and collaborator, ry. nothing makes me happier than hiking, wandering the coast, cooking, listening to revelatory music, losing all traces of time capturing moments in photographs, sewing by hand and reading poetry.

art + design:

my inspiration for art + design come from elements of nature and things that have sustained the hands of time such as rain + wind carved cliffs of the na pali coast, the rugged + deserted coastlines of big sur, the magic + wisdom of the massive awe-inspiring coastal redwoods to lovely aged patina earned on a piece of old metal or the countless stitching + mending of an old japanese boro cloth. i treasure places & things that are a bit weathered, imperfect and generally off the beaten path. to me, these qualities give good character. my handmade wares are created using mostly recycled, re-claimed, vintage materials chosen for their specific reflection on nature that i so admire, whether it be a certain color that captures an overcast coastal horizon or the mottling on a fabric reminiscent of a salty gray shoreline. all new materials used are either organic in nature or recycled. my ultimate hope is that the pieces i create will mimic and compliment either your favorite old pair of jeans or the wonderfully heavy, drapey, washed-a-million-times linen dress that you just live in day & night because there is an intimate story there, a history that made it your own, ultimately looking & feeling better for the age. i strive to make “non-disposable” aesthetically pleasing goods that are most importantly utilitarian in nature and with a quiet softness that one will not readily tire of.

gently walking the nature’s path, i contemplate, read lots of poetry & capture these moments of zen in photographs. the way i see and what i feel is reflected in each of my images. in solitude, reflective and present, photography inspires me to be a better person.

Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that I use mostly vintage and re-claimed materials which have stood the hands of time & in some instances will show signs of wear & imperfections inherent in vintage fabrics. I consider these "imperfections" part of the beauty of the fabric and feel that it tells a good "story" and gives my design a "worn-in" look. Please be aware of this when deciding to make a purchase. The goods that I make are not for those seeking "shiny, sparkling new" looking products.
