Modern Handcrafted Sterling Silver and Resin Jewellery
Hi, my name is Rachel Moore and I am a silver or goldsmith from Brisbane Australia. I work from a home based studio around my family.
I began making jewellery many years ago as my husband is in the Military and we move around alot and I wanted to do something that could move with me that was creative, after much experimenting I discovered a love of working with metal and silversmithing.
Years and many classes, workshops and weekend courses later I finally enrolled in and completed a Vocational Course in Goldsmithing.
RMD jewellery is the label that was born from my passion. I spent a few years experimenting with a variety of materials, but my favourites have always been sterling silver, PMC moldable fine silver, enamel and resin. Of course, you can't go past a touch of gold for luxury.
I love the clean lines of Sterling Silver, the flexibility of molding and shaping PMC Fine Silver and the freedom to add a splash of colour with enamel and resin. The creative possibilities of these materials is endless, hence my fascination for these.
My jewellery consists of simple modern clean lines with a splash of colour. I love creating delicate simple everyday jewellery that people can wear all day without discomfort.

All my jewellery is handmade by me using recycled Sterling Silver, recycled Fine Silv and solid 18kt gold. I add a touch of colour with resin and Enamel.

Resin is modern polymer based synthetic material which is very similar in nature to plastics after it has been set. It is sturdy, waterproof and will last for a lifetime if cared for properly. Resin begins its life as a liquid, which allows it to be used in so many varied ways, poured into moulds and shaped. Once cured, usually after 48 hours, the resin then becomes a hard lacquer like finish.
The resin can be washed with soap and water to clean, if especially dirty, you can even give it a gentle brush with soap on a nail brush or old toothbrush, the resin is sturdy and will hold up to a gentle scrubbing.
The surface of your resin can become dry over time, this is a result of the air drying out the material, when this happens, try rubbing a little baby oil over the piece, dry thoroughly with a soft clean cloth to restore your resin’s original sheen.
