Announcement    Many of my shows this year have been canceled. If there is something you are interested in seeing, based on my listings or sold items, feel free to send a message to me. I post current work and work in process (plus my garden & cats!) on Instagram and Facebook.

My upcoming 2020 schedule:
May 2-3 The Clay Collective, Cambridge, WI. CANCELED
June 6-7 57th Street Art Fair, Chicago, IL CANCELED
June 19-21 Lakefront Festival of Art, Milwaukee, WI CANCELED
July 3-5 Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Denver, CO CANCELLED
July 25-26 Geneva Arts Fair DECISION PENDING

Many thanks to everyone for stopping by & checking out my work! I make almost all of the pieces out of grolleg porcelain, both hand built & wheel thrown pieces that I alter & carve -- some are functional pieces, most are sculptural objects. My glazes are a variety of glossy and matte surfaces. Occasionally, I use a beautiful porcelain, called Southern Ice, that I leave unglazed.

About robertapolfus

Sales 420
On Etsy since 2010

My inspiration comes from the natural world

I rediscovered clay 29 years ago and have been happily working with it ever since. Starting with earthenware, then stoneware and finally, lovely porcelain—for the last 20 years.

I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. Each piece is handled many times, for many hours, in some cases, over many days. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired to a high temperature in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2345 F or 1282 C.

Returns and exchange details
If you are not happy with your pieces, I will refund your order, minus the shipping charge. If a piece is broken upon shipping, I can replace it with another piece at no extra charge, or refund your payment--in that case, please provide a photo of the damaged piece.
Payment
Payment is fastest with direct payment through Etsy or Paypal (you can use your credit card on the Paypal site). If you'd like to arrange another form of payment, please convo me. I will ship as soon as your payment clears.
Shipping
I ship USPS Priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance for domestic orders. International orders are shipped USPS First class mail. I wrap the pieces well and try to use recycled boxes and bubble wrap. If this is a gift and you would like all new packaging or gift wrapping, please let me know with your order.
Additional policies and FAQs
Because each piece is handmade, there may be a tiny iron spot since I work in a studio where others use stoneware clay. I try to photograph any 'spots' or mention them in the item's copy. If you have questions in this regard about a particular item, please convo me.
