Announcement   2016 SCHEDULE: JULY: Krasl, St. Joseph, MI ~ Geneva Art Fair, Geneva, IL; SEPTEMBER: Plaza, Kansas City, MO; OCTOBER: Twenty Dirty Hands, Galena, IL

Many thanks to everyone for stopping by & checking out my work! I make almost all of the pieces out of grolleg porcelain, both hand building & wheel throwing pieces that I alter & carve -- some are functional pieces, most are sculptural objects. My glazes are a variety of glossy and matte surfaces. Occasionally, I use a beautiful porcelain called Southern Ice, that I leave unglazed.

I have pieces in the gallery at Terra Incognito in Oak Park, IL and Outside the Lines Art Gallery in Galena, IL.

One of my teapots is in the Lark Books, 500 TEAPOTS Volume 2. Also, some of my branches are being displayed at Lou & Grey's new stores in NY, CA, NC and GA.

If you'd like to contact me, feel free to convo through Etsy or at robertapolfus (at) yahoo.com.

Just beautiful. I bought a bud vase at an art festival, and have to have this coordinating piece. So unique and organic.

About

My inspiration comes from the natural world

I rediscovered clay 25 years ago and have been happily working with it ever since. Starting with earthenware, then stoneware and finally, lovely porcelain—for the last 16 years.

I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. Each piece is handled many times, for many hours, in some cases, over many days. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired to a high temperature in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2340 F or 1282 C.

Shop policies

All pieces are handmade by me--no two are identical.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Payment is fastest through Paypal (you can use your credit card on the Paypal site) or direct payment through Etsy. If you'd like to arrange another form of payment, please convo me. I will ship as soon as your payment clears.
Shipping
I ship USPS Priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance for domestic orders. International orders are shipped USPS First class mail. I wrap the pieces well and try to use recycled boxes and bubble wrap. If this is a gift and you would like all new packaging or gift wrapping, please let me know with your order.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not happy with your pieces, I will refund your order, minus the shipping charge. If a piece is broken upon shipping, I can replace it with another piece at no extra charge, or refund your payment--in that case, please provide a photo of the damaged piece.
Additional policies and FAQs
Because each piece is handmade, there may be a tiny iron spot since I work in a studio where others use stoneware clay. I try to photograph any 'spots' or mention them in the item's copy. If you have questions in this regard about a particular item, please convo me.
