In love with my new cushion, brings so much character to my living room. Thank you Robin for coming up with this idea, not many products represent Jamaican culture. X

About

Dancing Cushions by Robin Clare

My shop has evolved with my art practice over the years. I've always been drawn to bright colours and pattern and have found that both play a massive role in my work. I also love the art form of dance and movement. Although I am an adequate dancer at best, it is pure pleasure to watch people loose themselves in their movement. My shop has allowed me to take my love of both pattern and dance a step further by giving me an outlet to delve into the world of surface design. The result has been a line of digitally printed cushion covers I call Dancing Cushions.

The idea for my dancing cushions began with illustrations of Jamaican dance moves. I quickly realised the illustrated moves worked brilliantly as patterns. For me this was a blissful moment that transformed my entire art practice. I started creating works that showcased Jamaican dancehall moves. The repetition is something that I feel really captures the unique and inventive style.

So by combining the repeated dance moves with electric colours and the slick printing process that Society 6, I have been able to generate products that I'm very proud of and that reflect both my personality and my art practice in general.
