Artist's Statement

I create delicate, textured watercolor paintings of whimsical imagery inspired by landscape, nature and biology. My work is informed by an upbringing in the Palouse landscape of Eastern Washington, time spent abroad in Ecuador and Australia, and a passion for education and community development. I work in watercolor painting using synthetic Yupo paper which allows me to manipulate the watercolor after it has dried to create surface texture. The playful, semi-abstract imagery I use is derived mostly from free-association drawing and “doodling” which brings out specific forms that I repeat and re-mutate over and over. These organic “characters” are very plant and nature-inspired (trees, seed pods, stones) but are often interpreted as both microscopic (bacteria, DNA, or neural transmitters) and macroscopic (constellations, galaxies, or nebulae). The addition of more architectural elements hints at my curiosity about the similarities between the things we build, and the things we are built of.

Thanks for shopping!

Most of my pieces are already framed (indicated in the item's description). Some come just in a mat so that you can save a bit on shipping and choose your own frame. However, I am willing to frame pieces at request so if you'd prefer that I do that just send me a message and I will recalculate framing cost and update the item listing for you. This might add up to a week to the time it takes me to get your order sent out.

Pieces that are currently listed as framed can also be sent in just the mat, which would affect both the item's cost and shipping amount, so contact me if you are interested in that.

Returns and exchanges
If an item is not to your liking you may arrange a return by contacting me within 30 days of receiving the package.
I accept paypal payments. Minnesota residents will be charged sales tax.
Customers in the Twin Cities Metro Area of Minnesota may want to contact me prior to buying; direct delivery may be an easier option instead of regular shipping.

If you are outside of the US please contact me for shipping estimates and I will set something up for you. I usually ship via UPS but can do USPS or another method if you prefer.

For purchases within the US you can generally expect the item within 2 weeks and if it is going to be a bit longer than that I will let you know. In July/August of 2016 I am moving which will slow down processing time, plan for 3 weeks before receiving your order. Thanks for your patience.
