About

Handmade gemstone jewelry with individual beauty.

I first opened an Etsy shop when I became a science teacher. In college, I was able to make jewelry with a club I put together, and local craft shows were my sales outlet. As a teacher, I wanted to be able to come home after work and have my sales waiting for me. During my first year on Etsy, my business increased five-fold. I quit my teaching job after only 2 years to commit myself full-time to what had been a hobby for over 10 years. I left home in Maryland and moved to the Boston area to surround myself with college friends, and eventually secured a spot on the Newbury Street sidewalk, where I began selling my work off a table as a street vendor. Since then, I have founded The Handmade Markets (www.thehandmademarkets.com) and the Newbury Handmade Market (www.newburyhandmademarket.com), pop-up artist markets that take place in vacant storefronts in the Boston area. I hope to open a permanent brick-and-mortar in 2015 if all goes to plan!

When I shop for gemstones, I am initially attracted to certain qualities, whether that be a stone with gorgeous natural inclusions, or a flawless bead with near-perfect facets. Each strand of stones I purchase speaks to me for its individual beauty. Back in my studio, I lay out my supplies, and start building my art. I sometimes prefer simplicity and wire wrap a single stone to a chain, as there is nothing more lovely than that stone, alone. Other times I choose to mix colors and textures, shapes and sizes, to create something truly one of a kind. These more complex pieces are inspired by my surroundings, as I see beautiful fabrics, for example, or colors in nature. I always take note of new color combinations that I find interesting to look at. I sometimes source components from other artists here on Etsy to complete my vision. Each one of my pieces has an element of luxury, and I want the wearer to feel like it embellishes their attire, and that they feel joy while wearing it. My Etsy shop is run completely by me, and I strive to be fully transparent, fair, and communicative with each of my customers so that they have the best experience possible, from beginning to end.

Shipping
ALTHOUGH IT IS EXTREMELY RARE FOR ITEMS TO BE LOST IN THE MAIL, I CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS THAT ARE. $1 SHIPPING INCLUDES STANDARD SHIPPING VIA USPS AND TRACKING. CONTACT ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR ITEM INSURED OR RUSH SHIPPED.

Orders will be shipped within 3 business days unless you hear from me otherwise. Please contact me if you need your order processed within a shorter time and I will do my best to accommodate you.

$5 (overseas/Canada) shipments DO NOT INCLUDE tracking or insurance. Insurance costs an additional $5 and both tracking and insurance for overseas shipments cost an additional $25.

If you do not receive your item within 14 days of shipment, I offer replacements at wholesale prices (50% of retail cost, though they might take longer to replace if supplies need to be re-ordered). Should your item arrive after you order a replacement, kindly ship it back to me, and I will refund your replacement order.

Items are shipped in a gift box that are placed in a padded envelope. I use the gift boxes to protect the piece, and they sometimes get some wear and tear during their journey in the mail. Please let me know if you need proper packaging on your end, and I will see what I can do.
Refunds and Exchanges
All items are 100% returnable for 100% of the item cost
(not including custom items or shipping). I want my customers to be not just satisfied, but thrilled with their purchase. Items that are returned must be post marked within 14 days of the original shipping date for this policy to be honored and must be in the same condition as when they left my studio.

Items returned after the 14 day grace period are subject to a 10% restocking fee.

***FULL REFUNDS TO NOT APPLY TO CUSTOM WORK*** Custom orders require a 20% non-refundable deposit.

REPAIRS: All my jewelry has a 1 year guarantee from the date shipped. If your jewelry should break due to NORMAL wear and tear within this time frame (fine chain breaks when tugged on repeatedly, and stones crack when dropped on the floor), please send it back to me and I will repair it at no charge. A $5 shipping and packaging fee may apply after a 1 month period, and after 1 year, I will quote a repair price.
Additional policies and FAQs
WHOLESALE POLICY:

The wholesale price is about 40% off the list price of most items on my site plus $10 for shipping and insurance. I have a $500 and 10 item minimum. Tax ID required. Some pieces on my site are one of a kind and cannot easily be duplicated, and others are already listed at a wholesale price and may not be available at further discount. Packaging/jewelry boxes are not included unless they are specifically requested and an additional fee may apply. Items that do not sell in a 6 month period can be exchanged for other designs as long as they are in new condition, so there is no risk to you to hold on to a piece that does not sell. Please contact me if you would like more information.

CUSTOM ORDERS:

I love doing custom work! I have done bridal jewelry for friends and clients and have also adjusted my own designs to fit the desires of my customers. Please message me and we will go from there!

Please do see the refunds and exchanges section for my policy on custom order refunds.

An additional 2" of chain on my standard 16" chains costs $5. Contact me for lengths longer than 18".
