Announcement   WELCOME TO ROCK GARDEN ALPACAS FIBER STORE!

My husband and I started Rock Garden Alpaca Farm in 2011; we absolutely adore our alpacas and thoroughly enjoy being with them every day! You can read about our adventures at Rockgardenalpacas.blogspot.com.

I opened my Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber Etsy Shop in 2012 after discovering all that can be done with this fabulous fiber and wanting to share it with fellow artisans.

I have always enjoyed creating! I have sewn since I was a little girl (many years ago :) ) I LOVE to create art quilts and developed my own pattern line for the same, which patterns and pattern kits I sell in my other Etsy Shop:
Etsy http://DebbieBohringer.etsy.com.

It wasn't until I started exploring our adventure into alpaca farming that I found my next and extremely addicting passion - fiber arts.

The amount of things that can be created with this unbelievably soft fiber is overwhelming. It can be spun, woven, needle felted, nuno felted; used in doll making and added to a vast number of fiber and textile arts. The possibilities are endless.

Here are some helpful descriptions to aide you in understanding my products:

Alpaca Carded Roving –Mill Processed - Fiber that I have sent to a Mill after it has been shorn from either my alpacas or other alpacas from surrounding farms. This is the prime blanket area fiber on the alpaca, Grade 1 – Ultra Fine (the absolute softest), Grade 2 – Superfine (extremely soft) Grade 3 – Fine
(still very soft) and Grade 4 - Medium (not as soft). Grades 1 - 3 are best suited for next to the skin items. Grade 4 is best suited for woven or felted items and fiber arts. At the Mill it has been washed, picked, carded and then processed into roving all by machine.

Hand Crafted Carded Batts – made from the prime blanket area fiber – Grades 1, 2, or 3. I have personally created these batts on my carder. Some of them from fiber I have processed myself from shearing right on thru to carding. Some of these batts I have hand dyed first, or I may have blended them with other fibers or left them just plain.

Hand Spun Yarns:

I enjoy spinning whether I am using my Lendrum wheel or my Hansen E-Spinner; it is always exciting to see the fiber from my alpacas turn into some fabulous yarn! I spend many hours creating and hope you like what you see.

Hand Dyed/Spun or Hand Spun – these are yarns I have spun from Mill processed rovings that I have either hand dyed or spun naturally; sometimes adding other fibers or just using 100% alpaca.

Hand Processed-Hand Spun – these are yarns that I have done by hand right from shearing the alpaca. This is prime blanket area fiber – Grades 1, 2, or 3, that I have personally taken from shearing the alpaca and then carded and picked by hand through the fiber for VM that has to be removed; I have then hand washed, let dry, fluffed and picked again, then carded into batts. Some of these batts I have hand dyed first, or I may have blended them with other fibers or left them just plain. I then spun the batts into various types of yarns.

Needle Felting Fiber - These assorted packages can be used for needle felting, nuno felting, doll making, fiber and textile arts. I have made several different combination packages – some all natural colors – some are my handcrafted carded batts that I have hand dyed and some are Mill spun rovings that I have hand dyed – see listings for descriptions.

Bulky Rug Yarns – these are secondary fibers that have been sent to the Mill where they have been washed, picked and carded and then processed by machine into these “bumps” of bulky rug yarn; all natural alpaca that has been spun around a cotton core.

Hand Painted Yarns – Prime fiber was sent to the Mill where it was washed, picked, carded and spun into yarn by machine. Once I received the yarn back from the Mill I then hand painted it using acid based dyes. I usually do 2 skeins at once but do not write out my formula; thus making them unique.

All my fiber is stored in my smoke free, pet free home.

Thank you for taking the time to visit; please come again!

Payment
I accept Paypal and credit cards through Paypal.
Shipping
Large overages in shipping costs that have calculated in excess (less handling/packaging fees) will be refunded to customer upon shipment.

International orders where shipping has not calculated enough or any additional international shipping fees or insurances are required, will be billed for those additional fees prior to shipment - if you decide to cancel your order due to these additional fees, your order will be refunded in it's entirety. Import taxes, customs, duties and fees levied by the destination Country are the responsibility of the recipient.

All in-stock orders are shipped within 1-3 business days of payment being received via PayPal. We will notify you via email with a tracking number once your order has been shipped, along with an estimated delivery date. We ship through the U.S. Postal Service USPS or UPS within the Continental U.S., so please allow 5-10 business days for your order to arrive (sometimes longer for the busy holiday seasons).

We will ship USPS First Class Mail outside the Continental United States, this is the most economical way of shipping however, there is no confirmation of receipt, therefore International orders are non-refundable. Please be aware that once a package is out of the country, I have no way of locating it. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs, duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment is responsible for any of these additional fees. Please be aware of this if you are sending an item as a gift.

Shipping out of the United States frequently takes more time and can be held up in customs. If proof of delivery, expedited shipping or insurance is required, additional charges will be billed via Paypal along with order information, again once payment is confirmed via Paypal, shipping information will follow.

If it looks like it’s going to take longer or we’re temporarily out of order on an item, then we’ll do our best to Email you and let you know. If you need an item really, really fast please Email us and let us know. Other shipping methods can be arranged at higher rates for orders shipped within the Continental US. Please allow 1 to 4 weeks for delivery of orders outside the Continental US.
