Announcement   ❦ I am so pleased to be a featured artist in Belle Armoire Jewelry's beautiful magazine's current September/Fall issue. See the short video on Facebook ~ https://www.facebook.com/rocksandpaperswans ❦

I make rustic bohemian jewelry for the free spirit who wants original, unusual, and beautiful jewelry that reflects who she is ~ at least at that moment in time.

My things are (mostly) one of a kind and I mix ancient, with their own stories and history, with new. Making my own polymer clay pieces, paper beads, and altering elements with fire, hammer, and paint is a fascination/obsession and creates pieces not to be found on anyone else.

▲▲▲ There are so many things in the shop ~ please use the categories on the left to help you find just what you want. ▲▲▲

Send me your email address for a very special coupon on your birthday.

Visit my Facebook page www.facebook.com/RocksandPaperSwans to see new pieces first and to get sale notices and coupons.

❦ To see new listings in your activity feed, click on the Favorite Shop/Heart button at the top left-hand side of this page.

❦ I'm slowly adding items to my new shop PaperSwansandThings.etsy.com.
There will be colorful, light weight, artsy and fun paper bead earrings and necklaces; and maybe some destash from both shops too. It will be a great place to find small gifts for teachers and Besties. Come visit.

About

I play with color, texture, and pattern

I am a maker of rustic bohemian collectable jewelry. I love making eclectic, beautiful, and memorable art to wear full of lush color, texture, and pattern.

I began as an illustrator (MFA from Florida State University) working in dimensional cut paper collage using traditional paint, brush and paper - and exacto knife. I create my picture book illustrations digitally these days but I still love to hand paint papers to scan into my collages.

I have flat files full of painted papers and proof sheets from various book projects. On a whim I began using some of the papers to make beads to use in wall hangings; I made earrings instead, and then bracelets and necklaces. It took some research and experimentation to figure out the best way to protect the beads from the elements but once that was accomplished I started looking for other beads to combine with the paper. I discovered sources for beautiful Czech glass and gemstone beads and began collecting. Then I started making my own beads with polymer clay and learning to work with metal so that I could make my own clasps and findings. I am so excited to see what can be discovered with experimentation and work to make my pieces as personal, original, and thoughtfully put together as I can.

As much as I love making art for books I missed working with my hands. I have finally found the thing that I love doing as much as illustration. Maybe more.

I have two shops on Etsy. This one, RocksandPaperSwans, is all about eclectic, one-of-a-kind and collectable pieces, and PaperSwansandThings, which is brand new and celebrates paper and mixed media. I would love to have you come visit.

There are no returns on custom work. I hope you understand.

For new customers the total must be paid before work is started.

Care instructions

You are purchasing a one of a kind handmade item that may be more delicate than mass produced jewelry; please treat it gently and with reasonable care.
I use jewelers grade sealers on patinas and surface treatments to protect them and your skin. Paper bead components also have at least 2 coats of polycrylic sealer and are quite water resistant but not water proof. Do not shower or swim in your jewelry.

Paper Beads

♥ Process:
My paper beads are made from paper I paint by hand or digitally design to create certain patterns and color combinations; the papers are cut into strips and rolled into beads; they are sealed with at least two coats of either matte or shiny polycrylic and are extremely durable and quite water resistant (but as with all mixed media jewelry you are advised not to shower or swim in it).
Care for your paper jewelry gently as you would any other jewelry.
