Announcement   ❦ I am so pleased to be a featured artist in Belle Armoire Jewelry's beautiful magazine's current September/Fall issue. See the short video on Facebook ~ https://www.facebook.com/rocksandpaperswans ❦

I make rustic bohemian jewelry for the free spirit who wants original, unusual, and beautiful jewelry that reflects who she is ~ at least at that moment in time.

My things are (mostly) one of a kind and I mix ancient, with their own stories and history, with new. Making my own polymer clay pieces, paper beads, and altering elements with fire, hammer, and paint is a fascination/obsession and creates pieces not to be found on anyone else.

▲▲▲ There are so many things in the shop ~ please use the categories on the left to help you find just what you want. ▲▲▲

Send me your email address for a very special coupon on your birthday.

Visit my Facebook page www.facebook.com/RocksandPaperSwans to to see new pieces first and to get sale notices and coupons.

❦ To see new listings in your activity feed, click on the Favorite Shop/Heart button at the top left hand side of this page.

❦ I'm slowly adding items to my new shop PaperBeadsandThings.etsy.com.
There will be colorful, light weight, artsy and fun paper bead earrings and necklaces; and maybe some destash from both shops too. It will be a great place to find small gifts for teachers and Besties. Come visit.

Absolutely lovely !!! Was very hard to pick a favorite, but this one just talks to me :) Wonderful artistry, and a great eye for combining colors and textures, worth every penny. Thanks so much!

About

I play with color, texture, pattern in both my jewelry and my illustrations

I am a jewelry maker and mixed-media illustrator; I love making things full of lush color, texture and pattern.

I began as an illustrator (MFA from Florida State University) working in dimensional cut paper collage using traditional paint, brush and paper - and exacto knife. I create my picture book illustrations digitally these days but I still hand paint papers to scan into my collages.

I have flat files full of painted papers and proof sheets from various book projects. On a whim I began using some of the papers to make beads to use in wall hangings; I made earrings instead, and then bracelets and necklaces. It took some research and experimentation to figure out the best way to protect the beads from the elements but once that was accomplished I started looking for other beads to combine with the paper. I discovered sources for beautiful Czech glass and gemstone beads and began collecting. Then I started doing some wire work so that I could make my own clasps ... then I found more wonderful beads ... and began experimenting with patina, polymer, enamel...
You see how it goes.

I had an Etsy shop for years but never put anything in it; now it it full of pretty things ... I am so glad to welcome you to my shop. It used to be called just paperswans - because I love paper and my name is Swan - but now I have changed the name to rocksandpaperswans. I hope you enjoy what you see here. I'd love to hear from you if you have any questions or comments.

Very occasionally I am able to get the assistance of a professional photographer (a.k.a. grandson) and his wife Jill, who makes a lovely model for my jewelry.
