About

Handmade goods direct from the farm

In February, 2016 I purchased a farmhouse on 20 acres near Northfield, MN. I packed up my dogs, cats, and pet pig Huey and moved over 1,700 miles back to the state I love. Having not been commercially farmed in decades this property was the perfect place to begin my permaculture operation. The previous owners removed all of the agricultural buildings so I was quite literally building my farm from the ground up. After two years, and a lot of personal growth, I sold the farm and moved into a tiny house on wheels on a friend’s goat farm.

For the past few years I have been working with leather, knitting, stitching, and crafting a slew of useful items to help me in my daily endeavors. Those useful items can now be yours! I make each item by hand in my tiny house on wheels. My dog is often sitting on my feet (literally) as I work.

Why Rogue Chicken?
The name for the farm (and my handmade business) came from my slew of chickens that refuse to be cooped. At one point I had over 200 chickens running the farm, including a whole host of noisy roosters and even a few chicks that were hatched by my hens over the summer. Try as I might, no matter how many fences, runs, coops, or containment systems I tried some of my chickens absolutely refuse to be contained. I referred to these as "Rogue Chickens." Rather than try to change their nature, I learned to embrace their rogue lifestyle. I used to often get laughs from folks that come over for bonfires- the fire ring is about 50 feet from my "chicken tree" where those rogue birds roost at night.

Your purchase helps me fund my future farming goals, support my tiny lifestyle, and helps me continue to support local, ethical food growers.
