Announcement   Handspun yarns and more from a small-scale fibre artist located in the Washington DC Metro area.

Also see my website/blog, www.roguecrafter.com for tips and tricks on using handspun yarn and much more.

I try to source all my fibres directly from farmers or hand-dyeing artisans; I like to know who is raising the animals that produce the fibres that feed my fingers' work.

If you feel the same way about your knitting or crochet and also want to get to know the person who spins your yarn, do feel free to check out my website (see above) for more information about me and my creative process.

Have any questions/concerns? Please contact me via Etsy.

About

It all began with Hippie High...

I am a small-scale fibre artist who lives in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. I knit many things, and I spin yarn on a top-whorl drop spindle. I also dye my own fibres using food-safe dyes. I look forward to experimenting with natural dyes soon, and also learning how to weave on a backstrap loom.

People say that it must take a lot of patience to spin, particularly on a drop spindle. For me it is the opposite. It takes a lot of patience to sit around in lines and the DMV without a spindle or knitting needles in my hands (because I do knit and spin in public).

I try to know where the fibre I am spinning or knitting with comes from, in terms of which farm or collection of farms, and preferably which kind of animal (alpaca, llama, etc.) or even which breed of sheep.

There are many conservation breeds, which only have a few thousand animals left alive, that have many positive attributes but aren’t as well-known and thus in demand as merinos. I like to support small-scale, local farmers who are raising conservation breed sheep – or at least less well known sheep – in order to do my bit to help biodiversity.

Hello and welcome to Rogue Crafter's Studio. It is run and operated by Liz, who became a full-on convert to the fiber/fibre arts later in life despite an untapped passion for it earlier on. (When she tried dyeing acrylic yarn with berries in a jar, maybe she should have taken some classes in dyeing. Just maybe.)

Returns and exchanges
If you are unhappy with your items for any reason, please contact me and I will see what I can do.
Payment
I accept payment via Paypal, direct check out with credit cards, and Etsy gift cards.

Please make sure that your shipping address is correct at the time of purchase. If you are shipping as a gift and have a different shipping and billing address, please notify me of that as soon as possible so that I know where to ship the order.

For PayPal, the Etsy address and the PayPal "ship to" address must match. If they don't, I will try to contact you, but I may not notice. In the event of a conflict, I always ship to the Etsy address as I use Etsy connections for shipping. Please make sure your address is correct -- I can't be responsible for items that are lost in the mail due to incorrect addressing.

If you wish to cancel your order, please do so as soon as possible after placing the order. If the item(s) have already shipped out, you may choose to return the item(s). However, you are responsible for all shipping charges incurred (both for the trip to you and the trip back to me).
Shipping
I ship through the good ol' USPS (usually via Etsy connection) in the cheapest way possible, and I will provide you with a tracking number when your order has shipped.

General shipping prices are $3 for US orders and $6 for International Orders on your first item; additional items are free in the US and $3 for International Orders. Please let me know if you need your item shipped faster; in that case I will set up a special listing for you with the additional postage.

For notecards, shipping prices are $0.50 for US orders and $1.00 for International orders.

If you are making what might be considered a bulk order (200 yards of yarn total or more), please contact me through Etsy and I may be able to refund you part of your shipping.

I will do my best to ensure that everything ships within 1-2 days of payment.
Additional policies and FAQs
Once I start producing a custom order of any kind, you cannot cancel the order. If there is a problem with a custom order requiring you to cancel it, please get ahold of me immediately after placing the order.

If you are making what might be considered a bulk order (200 yards of yarn total or more), please contact me through Etsy and I may be able to refund you part of your shipping.
