Hey and thanks for stopping by.

I am a ceramic designer working from my studio in Long Island City, NY. I design and hand make all of the pieces, using porcelain slip-casting technique.

In addition to the regular pieces, I'm selling some seconds for 50% off. These Seconds are pieces with a small and usually barely noticeable imperfection (like a bubble or a very very small crack), but are fully usable.

I also offer a limited number of Spinners at 40% off. These pieces were a small run that I made with a different glaze inside (matte instead of glossy), and the color strokes on them are more expressive than the ones on the regular pieces.

About

Romi Ceramics is a collection of signature hand crafted porcelain houseware.

I was first introduced to the ceramic slip-casting process while attending the product design department at Parsons, in New York. I fell in love with the material and the process, and with the endless possibilities it presented. I find that this technique uniquely straddles the boundary between hand-made and industrial production.

After graduation I started working as a product designer, but after a about a year and a half of working mainly in front of a computer, I realized how much I miss working with my hands. I started by renting a space at a communal ceramics studio, and working in the evenings and over the weekends. A couple of years later I decided to open my own business, Romi Ceramics, where I design and hand make all of the pieces at my studio in Long Island City, NY.

My designs have been exhibited at the Milan Furniture Fair, Swedish House of Form in Hellefors, Sweden, Fellisimo Design House in NYC, The Third Israeli Ceramics Biennale in Tel Aviv, Israel and at the 4th Design Biennial Festival in Saint-Etienne, France.

I moved from Tel Aviv to New York in 1999, to pursue a product design degree. After graduation, ceramics was a hobby for years, until finally in 2008 I started my own studio. My pieces are now sold by retailers across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

Shop policies

Thanks for reading my policy, hope it will make our communications smoother.
All of my pieces are hand crafted carefully and with lots of love. Because of that and because of the nature of porcelain, each piece comes out of the kiln a bit different, sometimes with traces of my "fingerprints" (both literally and not...). Please be aware of that.

Shipping
I ship UPS ground or USPS within the US and Canada.
If you wish to use a different service (different priority or provider) please indicate that with your order. In general, if you have any questions about the shipping costs, talk to me.
I can ship internationally, but the shipping cost will depend on the destination.
I will use your Etsy address as the shipping address so please make sure it's the right one. I hope you understand I won't be responsible for any errors the delivery service makes.
Refunds and Exchanges
No refunds. If the piece was broken during shipping, you can send it back and get a new one. You can contact me about a broken piece within 14 days after the purchase. Please keep in mind that since these are hand made pieces, each one is slightly different, and may have a trail of my handywork (finger print, a slight scratch etc...). I won't exchange pieces with this kind of details - that's what gives them character. Please also make sure that you know what the measurements of each piece are before purchasing it. I can't exchange a piece because you thought it's smaller/larger. If you have any further policy questions please contact me.
