Shroom Love

When I had to quit my job for my health in 2012, I didn't know what to do. I felt very uncomfortable about not earning a living, just being a stay-at-home doggy mama. Around that time, I happened to find a website introducing all sorts of mushrooms. I was so fascinated with the mushrooms. They don't make energy, unlike plants, but some are tasty, some of them are medicinal, and they are a part of the ecosystem. Above all, they look interesting and fun. I thought, well, I don't earn a living, but I can live like mushrooms (trying not to be poisonous). Earning a living is not the most important thing (I was not ready to go back to work healthwise, and I am grateful to my husband).
While recovering my health, I started crocheting mushrooms. One day, I showed it to my artsy friend, and she loved them and encouraged me to keep making.
At the end of 2014, I knocked on a local art gallery for my first trunk show.
My vendor adventure began at a local farmers market in the spring of 2015 as Room with Shrooms, offering crocheted mushrooms and woodland theme creatures. Now, I make all kinds of nature-themed fiber sculptures with mostly natural fibers, not only mushrooms. However, my love of mushrooms is forever, and I feel grateful to help me during my health recovery.

I love local festivals and maker markets to meet people in person. I hope I can meet many people in my Etsy shop.

A transplant from Japan to Alaska. I love yarn, cords, threads, anything linear, and all sort of fiber arts. My nonsensical love of Alaskan nature became Room with Shrooms.
