About

I'm a farm girl at heart

Art has always been a part of me. My creative side is usually bursting at the seams. The hard part is finding the time. I love working with clay because it combines two of my favorite things: nature and creativity.

I am returning to ceramics after many years working in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, environmental planning and teaching. I chose the name roots farm for a few reasons, mainly because for me getting back into ceramics and the arts is a "coming home to my roots" and "honoring my roots". The farm comes in from having an urban farm, chickens, pets and kids from the neighborhood always here. After working and having a family my time had become pretty fragmented and I found my creative energies were put into others and I felt like I needed something calming and creative that was for me, but that I could share with my twin daughters- something earthy, eco-friendly, and creative that we could do together or alone.

My inspiration comes from things around me, my kids and traveling. Often, I start out making something with an idea and then it will evolve into something completely different. I use things I find around the house, street, alleys, yard sales or at thrift stores for textures. I love experimenting especially. My goal this last year was to try different clay colors and glaze mixtures and experiment with making different types of items. I have narrowed down my tastes and found I enjoy the earth colored clays and making items both beautiful and practical. The darker clays remind me more of the earth and I love to grow succulents! Plus, I have started making environmental statements with my pieces and like this avenue as well for sending out, what I believe to be, positive and important messages through my art.

RETURNS + EXCHANGES

all sales are final, however, we accept returns for exchange or store credit within 7 days of receipt of goods. items must be in unused and original condition and packaging. shipping costs are not refunded and it is the buyers responsibility to pay for the return shipping costs. please note, shipping charges are non-refundable. all items in SALE section and all CUSTOM ORDERS are final. unfortunately, we are unable to do exchanges or returns on items once they have been used. to be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.

Roots Farm Ceramics is not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs when return shipping, so we strongly encourage you to pack the items well, purchase shipping insurance and ship via a trusted carrier. in the unlikely event of the piece being damaged in transport please contact me immediately. there are a few ways to rescue the situation including an exchange of the piece for a similar one, shop credit for the value of your purchase that can be used in our shop, and refund credit of the full cost of the damaged piece once the post office has issued a refund check. buyers will need to cover the costs of return shipping of any pieces back to me. we are happy to replace any items that have been damaged due to shipping, however, no refunds or credits will be issued for shipping costs. simply, take a photo of the damaged item and box and hold onto it until the post office has cleared the refund. i take great care in packing all orders but sometimes breaks can still occur with fragile items and the shipper may need to see the broken items in order to process the refund.

all items are handmade with lots of love and care. please allow small imperfections in size and color due to the nature of handmade work. items are not always perfect. listing measurements are rough and no two pieces are exactly alike. there may be my fingerprints, a random glaze drop, a glaze pin hole or bubble- which i like to believe makes it extra unique-unless noted. i do my best to photograph my work - however, please keep in mind that the image may appear differently according to your computer screen.
