Meet Carrie
Hello, I'm Carrie, the creative brain behind Rose & Hen.
I design a range of botanically inspired illustrations and hand carved linocut prints, with a modern yet classic feel in my home studio based in Stamford Bridge, York. Being based in a village I have endless in inspiration from the the surrounding countryside right on my doorstep. I often take photos or collect subject matter when out walking, then create sketches which are later transposed on to lino and hand carved with specialist tools.
I use "battleship grey" lino as a preference, as I feel it has a greater ability to hold the delicate lines I create. My designs are carved as single plates and printed in solid colours, or multiple blocks which are then layered and printed using contrasting colours. At home I use a portable hand wound press to print my designs, and pigment rich oil based inks from Hawthorn Printmakers in Murton, which are a joy to work with. I also use some of my designs and repeat patterns as covers for handmade notebooks, which I stitch with colourful or metallic embroidery thread. My favourite part of the process is cutting the designs, and I often get completely immersed.
Why not follow me on Instagram, where to can see me in action in my workshop.
Carrie xx

Care instructions
The inks I use are archival and light fast, however, prints should not be displayed in direct sunlight to avoid any damage.
Gift wrapping and packaging
Smaller prints all come packaged in a handmade box with paper wrapper. If you want anything gift wrapped, please advise in the comments to seller.
When will my order arrive?
I use Royal Mail 2nd class service to deliver my orders, and usually UK deliveries take 3-5 days. Deliveries to the US can take between 3-6 weeks, which is purely down to current transit delays being experienced by delivery providers. Please ensure you are aware of this before ordering.
