    About RoseHipIsland

Beautiful yarns hand dyed in Tasmania.

I have been dyeing yarn for myself and friends for over eight years and I finally decided to open this online shop in 2015 to sell my hand dyed yarn. I love dyeing yarn and fibre and I do not want to stop because I am running out of space!

I occasionally sell my handmade project bags. Each one of them is truly one of a kind and made with much love and attention.

I fill my days with parenting, a professional science career, bookkeeping, podcasting, knitting, spinning, crafting, swimming and enjoying the outdoors. Playing with colours and dyeing yarn is the perfect mix of science, creativity, mess and fun for me. I love wool and all the things you can create with this beautiful material.

With a background in Environmental Science I am conscious about the resources/materials I use and the potential impacts on the environment. I aim to make my dyeing process as efficient as possible to reduce any waste. I also source my bases and materials as locally as possible.

Thank you for coming by to have a look at my work.

I am a Swede living in Tasmania, Australia, with my husband and two little girls. I love dyeing yarn. It is fun and it involves a little bit of science and a lot of creativity. A perfect mix for me.

    Additional policies and FAQs
This is hand dyed yarn and so pooling and flashing may occur. It is always recommended to alternate skeins for garments when using hand dyed yarns.
Colours may appear differently on your screen. Please read the colour description carefully. I do repeat some colourways but it is in the nature of hand dyeing in small batches that even with the same methods and dye amounts, skeins can vary quite a bit from batch to batch and even within a batch.

Any knots or splices that I have detected will be mentioned in the listing. I endeavour to not offer items for sale with knots or splices, but the absence of these cannot be guaranteed.

All yarn is dyed with professional grade acid dyes. I recommend that hand dyed yarns are hand washed in cold to luke warm water with an appropriate wool wash. In my years of dyeing yarn for myself I have not had any problems with dye run-off, but to be safe I recommend that you wash your item separately the first couple of times. Dry flat in shade.

I do not re-skein. If I do it will be noted in the description.

I work in a smoke-free and pet free environment.

With a background in Environmental Science I am conscious about the resources/materials I use and the potential impacts on the environment. I aim to make my dyeing process as efficient as possible to reduce any waste. I also source my bases and materials as locally as possible.
