Sweet and lovely. Such charming and pretty little Jade earrings. The little leaf hanging down is delightful, without being juvenile in appearance. Perfect for nature lovers whether young or old. The beautiful jade green color will look stunning with many of my head scarves. I am very pleased with these comely little earrings. They arrived ever so promptly, and were packaged with extreme care and attention, in a lovely little gift box adorned with a sweet copper wire heart. Buying from this shop was a totally positive experience. Thank you.

Just lovely! The three richly colored stones complement each other exquisitely, and the artistic copper work is beautiful, and enhances the color of the stones. I am extremely happy with this purchase. It arrived very promptly, and was Packaged with the utmost care and attentiveness, in a lovely quality gift box with a pretty copper wire heart attached. There was even care taken to make sure the earrings stayed in place, and did not rub together during shipment which is important to me. Truly there is nothing but praise from me. Thank you so much.

Updates

A brand new, updated version of our porcelain, ceramic, glass and copper beaded bracelet for spring.
Crazy lace agate is lovely to work wth, as it's such a versatile gemstone. For this eclectic, casually elegant necklace we combined it with Swarovski crystals and copper.
For either woman or man who likes boho tribal style, earthy gemstone jewelry and just a touch of the primitive, our desert jasper stone bracelet brings them all together! African copper trade beads add their rustic charm to the rich brown palette.

About

Yankee Ingenuity, the "Make Do" Philosophy ...

... and the Spirit of Rough Magic

When my husband Joe and I named our fledgling jewelry design venture "Rough Magic Creations," we were thinking about the materials we would be using in our designs. The "rough" would be Maine's natural treasures - seashells, beach stones, pine cones, birch bark, moss. The "magic" would be fine commercial components - semi-precious gemstones, pearls, crystals, sterling silver.

Soon our concept, based on a line from Shakespeare's play "The Tempest," began to apply equally to the tools and equipment we work with daily to turn something essentially rough into a finished piece blessed with a touch of magic.

Before we discovered Etsy, we had no idea how our "business plan" would change and grow over time. With limited resources to launch Rough Magic, we decided to "make do" and apply some of the famous "Yankee ingenuity" that Joe, being a native Mainer, mastered as a tot at his father's knee.

- Wire? To learn some skills before tackling the more costly sterling silver, I bought a roll of hardware store copper. Ruined the entire roll. Bought more rolls. Ruined them too. Bought more, and more, and more, until I learned to master that wily stuff. And in the process the unexpected occurred - I fell in love. With copper. Yes, I enjoy working with sterling and other metals too, along with gemstones and other beads, but nothing feels quite so at home in my hands as that simple, humble, warm and forgiving hardware store metal.
Nowadays, we also buy copper by the sheet, for our ecofriendly decorative dishes and wall hangings, cuff bracelets, pendants, bookmarks and Christmas ornaments. Add repurposed, upcycled industrials to those "rough" materials.

- Hammer? A geriatric ball peen model, declared useless and discarded by our carpenter.

- Anvil? An ancient (read 19th century vintage) flat iron, the handle already broken off when we rescued it from the "super bargain" bin at a local antique mall.

- Bracelet mandrel? A length of industrial pipe, salvaged from the building supply shop.
And for the cuffs, a couple of potato shaped rocks we chanced upon while beach combing.

- Ring mandrel? Aha! The business end of a turkey baster.

- Files? I raided my manicure set. After all, jewelry making and glam nails are less than compatible.

- Hole punch? A sharp nail (no, make that an entire box of nails) left over from one of Joe's home repair projects.

- Flame bather? Ah ... now that's a trade secret.

As Rough Magic has grown, we've added some wonderful commercial tools to our workshop: a new ball peen hammer (to complement, not replace, the old one), a jeweler's mallet, some "real" files, pliers and punches, professional ring and bracelet mandrels and a set of dedicated wood carving tools for Joe.

But you know, we still keep reaching for those early "make do" tools. Again, nothing else feels quite so at home in our hands.

What a thrill it is to watch our designs and ideas come to life as we create them with our own hands. There's just something about seeing the "rough" turn into "magic" in our workshop.
