The Nomad Photographer

I’m Tom Damon, a lifelong nomad. As an Air Force brat, we moved around every four years or so, and I guess I just got used to it. Over the years, I’ve managed to visit all seven continents. I’ve also been a photographer most of my life, but computer programming paid a lot better so I put my cameras on the shelf until I retired.

After retirement, I volunteered to walk the dogs at the local animal shelter. That’s where I met Tess, AKA Rover. She was a “hard case”, a rambunctious pup that got returned twice. But, we hit it off really well, and I eventually adopted her.

About a year later, I decided to take up the nomadic lifestyle in earnest. So, I bought a small travel trailer with a bunk for Rover, and we hit the road. I also took my cameras off the shelf and brought them with me.

Over the years, I’ve collected a whole gallery of photographs from all the places I’ve visited. So, I decided to make some of them available for sale.

Rover and I stand with the planet. We’re very lucky that our planet hasn’t been totally used up yet. As nomads and beings who love the outdoors, we want to do everything we can to keep it beautiful and pristine.

Part of that philosophy is reflected in our nomadic lifestyle. Yes, the truck uses a fair amount of fuel when we move. But, most of the time, solar panels generate all the electricity we need. We use very little water, and a very small amount of propane for cooking and heating. All in all, we use very few resources.

When I looked into selling products, I wanted to be sure that our values were properly reflected there, as well. It turns out that print-on-demand is very efficient, not only cost-wise, but also environmentally. Without the need to maintain inventory, there is very little waste in production. We also save on transportation, since there is no need to warehouse stock.

I design all products myself and use a print-on-demand service for production and fulfillment. Producing products only as needed reduces waste. It also saves energy, because there is no need to transport finished products to a warehouse.
