Welcome and thanks for shopping in my Etsy store. Everything you see here is made by me.

The ornaments and garlands displayed in this shop are created using antique and vintage supplies and are in the spirit of the old Victorian ornaments. These seasonal artworks require a good amount of time, imagination and energy to ensure that each is beautiful and unique. Sometimes I make garlands in editions, but the ornaments are all one of a kind. Once an ornament is sold, you won't be able to purchase another like it. Each is signed and dated in the tradition of artwork.

The materials I use are old, sometimes difficult to get a hold of, and can be expensive. The printed paper "scraps" are chromolithographs and date to the late 1800s-early 1900s. During this time, the printing methods to produce these pieces required a separate pass through the press for each color (up to over 20 passes for a single image). I love these prints and the richness of the colors within them. Traditionally, these scraps were made into simple ornaments by Victorian families (occasionally, you might see some more elaborate treatments, but the surviving samples are incredible rare and go for some fantastic figures at auction). These old scraps are still available, but they are getting harder and harder to find.

I pair these century old scraps with vintage and antique delicately blown glass ornaments and a variety of vintage trims that are at least 50-75-100+ years old. I use old metal silver plated tinsel in various forms and old genuine gold gilt dresden pressed paper scraps. Although I aim to use as much old material as possible, vintage German dresdens are becoming more and more difficult to find and on rare occasions I do use some newer pieces (often that are made on the same machinery that had produced the originals over 100 years ago). When I do use these newer pieces, I gild them by hand with genuine gold and silver leaf and I age them to ensure that they blend in flawlessly with the older pieces.

When you buy one of my ornaments, you are buying a work of art. I hope that you enjoy it and that it becomes a part of your Christmas tradition.
