Always beautiful wools in colors not found easily. Great service too. Karen, the owner, will work with you to provide custom pieces. Definitely a favorite. NOTE: her wools are highly scented so make sure you let her know you want UNSCENTED if that's important to you.
About
I lie awake at night thinking about color.
Ever since I began making quilts fifteen or sixteen years ago, I have been utterly enchanted by hand dyed fabrics. My earliest dabblings with dyes came about thirteen years ago while I was planning a landscape quilt for my husband. That quilt never did get made, but no matter; I had discovered what I wanted to be when I grew up--a dye artist!

I began learning my craft in the shadow of the magnificent Ruby Mountains of eastern Nevada. It seemed only fitting that I name my business after them.
Shop policies
P&B TEXTILES COTTON: My most frequently used fabric, known to some as Dyer's Cloth. 80 x 80 threads/inch, 3.5 oz. This is very nice stuff--a substantial weight, fine weave, smooth surface, pleasing hand. It dyes up with brilliant colors and amazing, dramatic visual texture, needles easily, and takes a nice, sharp crease.
KONA COTTON (Kaufman Fabrics): Quilters love this fabric! 60 x 60 threads/inch, 4.4 oz. Heavier than P&B, with a very even, open weave, which makes it very easy to hand needle, gives it a sumptuous drape and a silky surface texture. Dyes up with glorious color and a softer mottling.
UNBLEACHED MUSLIN: 78 x 76 threads/inch, 4.4 oz. This is nice muslin--finely woven, good weight. Has a crisp hand and dyes with a stonewashed look and a sharp visual texture resembling stone. Striking!
FLANNEL: Brushed both sides, perfect for raggie quilts, chenille, baby blankets and cozy autumn and winter projects.
SANDWASHED BROADCLOTH: 133 x 72 threads/inch, 4 oz. Fabulous! Looks and feels like suede!
COTTON VELVETEEN: Soft as velvet and strong as denim. Wonderful for stuffed animals, home decorating, clothing, quilt backing and more.
HEMP, BAMBOO, RAYON and ORGANICS available upon request.
WOOL FLANNEL: Only the very best! We felt and dye premium quality virgin wool flannel, which weighs 11 oz per square yard before felting and about 15 oz per square yard after felting. This felt is perfect for no-ravel applique' and for rug hooking. You can cut this as small as a #3 strip.) We also felt and dye on a large variety of textured wools, all appropriate for applique' and rug hooking.

Additional policies and FAQs
Cotton: I take special precautions to ensure that your fabric is colorfast, by washing multiple times in very hot water and Synthrapol and treating the fabrics with a professional dye fixative. Please be advised that some household laundry detergents have a high pH, which can re-activate the dye molecules and cause them to bleed in the wash. I recommend washing our fabrics in your water with your detergent before using in your projects, just to be sure. When washing your finished item for the first time, you may wish to use a color absorbing sheet.
Wool: Our hand dyed wool felt has been washed and dried and is ready to use in your projects. Prewashing is not necessary, however, if you choose to prewash your wool, please wash gently by hand in cool water, squeeze the excess water out, and lay flat to dry. You may want to “block” your wool while damp. You may also use a warm iron to flatten and square it up. Your finished project can be gently laundered by hand in cool water and air dried.
SPECIAL ORDERS: Our listings here at Etsy are not all-inclusive. If you want something special, by all means, DON'T BE SHY! We want to hear from you. You can mix and match, pick and choose, create your own color combinations, request different quantities, different base fabrics, different surface textures....whatever you like, we can make it happen. The same goes for handcrafted items, too. Pick a color scheme, pick a theme, and I'll put it together for you.
