In early 2009, with the loss of her designer job in the midst of an economic downturn, Jill Shephard decided it was as good of time as any to “go for it” in the entrepreneurial world.

I launched Ruff House Art with a custom wedding stationery line and my offerings and client list quickly grew. In 2012, after spending a solid couple of years creating and growing my internationally sold wedding line, I launched my wholesale product line at the National Stationery Show in NYC. 2014 saw another shift, when I opened my boutique paperie in the heart of downtown Lawrence, Kansas, which is also the home of my letterpress studio. My eye opening experience on the buying side of retail prompted a complete makeover of my wholesale line. Finally feeling at home with my brand, I relaunched my wholesale line in 2015. Since then my product line and retail footprint have grown leaps and bounds! With this growth, in 2019 I made the challenging decision to discontinue my wedding stationery line to have ample time to focus on the store & product line. In 2020, we rebranded our product line to Ruff House Print Shop, separating it from our brick and mortar that became Ruff House Paperie.

Ruff House Print Shop began with just myself and my great dane dog, Jack (hence the logo/name). Since then, my family has grown to include my amazing husband, Brian and my two beautiful daughters, Mila & Brynlee. In 2015, at the end of his magnificent life, I said goodbye to my big white dog. I am so happy that his likeness lives on as the face of my brand.
