Announcement    Hi and welcome to my shop.
Alternative Gold and Silver Jewellery for Real Nice Folks.

I seek to make jewellery for the person who likes to take the path less traveled.
Jewellery that feels like the wearer. Modern, untraditional, textured, and a bit rugged.

My work combines elements from natural terrain, urbanscapes, and often from finer details in nature. My most recent work features pattern inspired from traditional Maori textiles and art, with a modern mash up.

I'm Jenna Love, the jewellery designer behind Rugged and Refined. I'm from Marlborough, New Zealand. Currently, I'm living and crafting a life in Melbourne, Australia.

You can often find me collaborating with couples on their forever rings, mucking about in nature with my family, and dreaming of the mountains in New Zealand.

About

Rugged and Refined, handcrafted and hand carved jewellery

I'm Jenna, from Marlborough, New Zealand.
At the moment I live in Australia and my life right now is a full one! My time is split between dreaming of and making jewellery, along with enjoying life with my young family.

I began my jewellery making journey way back in 2008. At the time I had just arrived home from a five year stint living in San Francisco, Europe and South America.
Fresh back in New Zealand, I stumbled upon a silver smithing course. After my first day, I immediately knew that I had found something I loved to do.

The opportunity to realise my creative ideas is something I feel very fortunate to have.
It has added layer to my life that is both challenging and enriching.

I hope to bring work that is refreshing. Also work that connects you, the wearer to your kin. To a special time in your life. To make pieces that reflect your idea of finding something unique and beautiful.

Returns and exchanges
I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Returns and exchange details
A lot of care has been taken in each piece of jewellery I make. I want you to be happy with your jewellery and to love it.
I CAN accept refunds or exchanges on unworn earrings, bangles or necklaces.
However for CUSTOM SIZE rings, I unfortunately cannot.
Each ring is specially made to order according to your size, this makes it difficult for me to take back into stock. However, I do want you to LOVE your ring, so if there are any specific issues you are not completely satisfied with, please get in touch.
RING SIZING
Please make sure the size provided to me is correct.
The best way to get an accurate size is to visit a reputable local jeweller.
Please let me know your size and also the inside diameter in millimetres (mm's) of the ring that fits you best.

If you will be ordering a wide ring (wider than 5mm) using a wide band ring sizer is best. It helps to try on a few different rings in the same width of the ring you are ordering to get a feel for the comfortable and correct size.

If a resize needs to be done, I can do this for a fee. With rings with stones in place this is much trickier and it may need to be done with a local, reputable jeweller, with more equipment than I have in my small home studio.
Payment
Direct Credit Card Payments and PAYPAL are accepted.
Shipping
All orders will take approx 4-5 weeks to be custom made to size and to ship.
All items are sent in a beautiful, eco friendly branded gift box.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

The best way to ensure accurate sizing is to be measured by a local jeweller for your ring size.
It helps to decide on the width ring you would like and go into a jewellery store and try rings on in that width. Once you find the correct size, have that ring measured on the jewellers sizing mandrel. If it is not possible to get sized at a local jewellers, I do have disposable ring sizers that can be purchased for $5aud. Please get in contact.
- I do highly recommend getting a professional sizing done at one (or two!) local jeweller's for best fit.
- If you are ordering a ring wider than 5mm, it helps to be measured with a wide band ring sizer at the jewellers.
- Please get in contact if you have a size question.

Care instructions

- Finish
All surface treatments will change over time.
A matte finish will eventually turn shiny and shiny, high polished surfaces will in time turn matte.
To bring your jewellery back to a high polish, you can use a silver dip polishing cloth. To give your jewellery a matte finish a very light buff with a green scotch brite (dishwashing) pad can help.

- Wear Instructions
It is best to remove jewellery before using any cleaning products containing bleach and also before entering a chlorinated pool.
Chlorine eats away at gold and eventually can lead to metal breakage if continuously exposed.
Also, metal can be marked while wearing if you are working out, lifting weights etc. Please remove before hand.

Silver with palladium? Whats the difference to regular sterling silver?

- Sterling Silver with Palladium
AGPD- This new sterling silver alloy is a superior silver alloy. It contains a small amount of palladium in place of copper. It is harder and more dense than traditional sterling silver.
This alloy also makes your jewellery more tarnish resistant than regular sterling silver.

White gold. What is palladium white gold?

Palladium white gold is greyer than the bright white chrome colour of (plated) white gold jewellery that you may see in a commercial jewellery store. It is a great alternative to those allergic to nickel white golds.
Palladium is a natural white metal that is very durable.
14ct palladium white gold contains 58.3% fine gold and the remaining 41.7% is made up of silver and palladium.
18ct is 75% fine gold, 25% palladium and small amount of silver. 18ct palladium white gold is slightly brighter than 14ct.

The 9ct white gold alloy used is 37.5% gold and the remaining metals are mainly silver and other white metals. This results in a whiter colour than the higher gold content 14ct, 18ct white gold alloys.
