All types of dolls offered are proved and tested by her own little children and suitable for daily use. All dolls are handmade in her studio in Austria. "Play with dolls is of special importance because it is one of the ways through which the child can externalize his own inner being."
Rahima Baldwin Dancy, You Are Your Child's First Teacher
"As the child nurtures & mothers the doll, he is not simply metaphorically, but also in reality caring for himself. It is important therefore, that we offer a doll that closely resembles him/her, not so much in features but rather in proportion. The child's "felt experience" of the doll will remain with him/her. So let's keep the doll simple, proportional & tactilely truthful."
Words by Shariffa Oppenheimer in regards to Waldorf dolls.

About KnechtRuprecht
Knecht Ruprecht - handcrafted treasures in the Waldorf tradition
Knecht Ruprecht is dedicated to handcrafted Waldorfdolls.
Marie, the artist behind Knecht Ruprecht, believes in the importance of dolls and dollplay and it is a great pleasure for her to create these important little friends. Since her own Waldorfschooling she has created handmade toys from natural materials. (That makes about twenty five years of Waldorf-Toy making experience : )
Marie grew up in a family of artists, with lots of selfmade and handcrafted things around herself. Her mother is a ceramic artist, her father is a painter and is running a gallery. Very soon in her childhood she started painting and sculpturing in the atelier of her parents.
During her time as a Waldorfstudent she was educated in all different kinds of arts and craftsmanships. After having finished her studies in Visual Fine Arts at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz she started working as an independent artist.
Since she is a mother to a little daughter and a little son she started working on dolls and wooden toys for her children. Some friends asked if she could create dolls and wooden toys for them too and so she started to sell her handcrafted treasures.
All pieces are made with love and great attention to detail. All types of dolls she creates are proved and tested by her own family and suitable for daily use. Each and every doll she makes is unique and handmade by herself. All pieces are made of the best materials possible. Only 100% organic wool stuffing is used. Nearly all wool and felt used for her creations come from the local farmers collective Manufaktur Haslach. This Collective supports different rare and endangered species of sheep and organic farming, no pesticides or chemicals are used. The wool is only washed with soda, mild soap and warm water.
The 100% cotton skin of all Knecht Ruprecht Dolls is approved in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 certification. It is made by Laib Yala Tricot AG from Switzerland. It is a very high quality fabric which is used and approved since years for the purpose of Waldorfdoll making. This fabric is very resistant and allows a long lifetime of the dolls I make.
Everything is made in a smoke free and pet free environment.
