Announcement   I HAVE NO LONG COMPLICATED EXPLANATIONS FOR MY ART. ITS REALLY VERY SIMPLE.
I get inspired by what I see, what I feel, or dream, or remember of a place, the moods of the weather, the excitement of a place, a smell, a color, the light, or shape of a thing and everything in between. There is no formuala for inspiration. It just happens. Its what it is. I respond to it all, and translate it through my art.
There are no special tricks, methods, styles, or gimmicks to arrive at what I create in paint and mixed medium. Whatever it takes, it takes. This is my only secret. To just do the thing I need to do, to say what I need to say.
I hope you love what I do, as much as I love doing it.
Its my life long pursuit, and its what I do. Always was, always will be.
Thank you for stopping my my Etsy gallery to view my art.
I hope you will find one of my works to your liking and make it your own.
Thank you.

Hey its art, one likes what one likes. Russ Potak rolled this bit of loose canvas up nicely in a nonstick paper and shipped in a sturdy tube that arrived in a timely fashion. It was a great transaction. I have since had it framed and it is currently on my wall.

I love this artist- pure and simple. And having purchased myriad works of his, I have gotten to know the painter behind the work who came out of the womb with a paintbrush in his left hand. Russ is the Real Deal. America at its finest!

About

Art and Me, One in the Same

My first language is art. The visual. My second language is the verbal. Art was my form of communication long before I could form a word. It still is. I express what I see, feel, and dream through my art. I absorb the life around me, and transfer that into a the visual translation using paint. I feel I can communicate a lot better by a painting, than I can in other ways. When I see something, experience something, of imagine something, I can't wait to put it into paint, so that I can show you all out there what has been channeled through visions and perceptions. Its a wonderful gift to have and I feel I need to keep it well. I love transfer my impressions and sensations, onto the canvas using whatever medium I happen to choose. Acrylic, watercolor, oil pastel, pencil, gouache or pen, and anything in between. I have been painting forever, and even longer than that. Its what I do, 24/7. I work at the easel daily, and am passionate about my art. Here, in my workplace, nestled in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, I put on my favorite music, grab my cup of joe, and head for my easel. Its exciting to speak in these visual terms using my art. I hope you enjoy it and become one of my collectors! Art keeps on giving and its keeps on living. And thanks for visiting my Etsy gallery here.

~ ABOUT LIGHTING ON A PAINTING ~
Paintings on computer screens are under full "lux' illumination. In real life, this doesn't exist. Direct or indirect from artificial or natural sources are what illuminates a work of art. They will appear different depending on the choice of lighting or strength of it. To approximate computer screen lighting, an overhead daylight type lamp above the painting would be best, although would recommend letting it exist in all types of lighting to see its many different effects.
