We had a lot of trouble finding a vegan cutting board that was both petroleum and glue free. While searching Etsy for vegan wax, we happened upon RustedPulchritude. After asking Deirdre a couple of questions about the wax, we decided to inquire if they could make us a cutting board. She said yes and we couldn't be more pleased. The board is an absolutely beautiful and functional work of art. It is truly a joy to chop on. And Deirdre and Aaron are so great to work with and have outstanding customer service! We highly recommend this shop and would definitely purchase from RustedPulchritude again. Thanks so much, guys!

This is so beautiful! The holes were a little too small for my 1 oz tincture bottles, but I have found some other bottles that it will hold for my herbal kit. I am very excited to use this lovely piece in my practice. Thank you!

About

Handmade in the Woods of Downeast Maine

Hi there!

We're Deirdre and Aaron, the creative minds behind Rusted Pulchritude.

⚒️

We're two New Yorkers who moved to naturally rugged Downeast Maine where we create our handmade wabi sabi wooden products in a wonky 1800's horse barn. We live and work with our adopted pitbull Bella at our side.

We specialize in using natural and salvaged materials in our work, which we collect personally. We carve spoons, shrinkpots, and bowls by hand from locally collected green wood using traditional handcarving techniques. Much of the green wood we use is storm-felled or collected from local tree-trimming operations. All of our boho cabinets, shelves, birdhouses, and decor are made by hand using reclaimed wood and other upcycled materials.

We thoroughly enjoy using bygone production techniques in our work. We create and carry out our concepts both individually and together collaboratively.

Thank you for stopping by! Find us on Instagram @rustedpulchritude for a behind-the-scenes look at our creative process, or keep up with us by subscribing to our occasional emails here: http://eepurl.com/deGcx5

Frequently asked questions

How do your shelves hang? What type of hardware is included?

We use flush mount hangers for our larger shelves, which are simple gravity-held interlocking pieces of metal where one attaches to the wall and one attaches to the shelf using screws. Most of our shelves use 2-3 pairs of these hangers, and half will come already attached to the shelf-side. Each piece measures 1 1/2" by 1 3/4".

For our smaller corner shelves, we use keyhole hangers.

We recommend hanging our shelves on at least one wall stud, when possible.

50# Drywall anchors are included with each shelf. Depending on the material your wall is made from (plaster, brick, wood, etc) you may need a different type of anchor, which are not included.

We include hardware, screws, drywall anchors, and hanging instructions with every shelf.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We offer gift wrapping on certain smaller items and can always include a card and exclude an invoice if need be. Please leave a request note when checking out or send us a message before ordering.

Wooden Spoon Care

Hand wash only • Avoid prolonged soaking • Rub with food-grade linseed (flax), walnut, or tung oil when needed

I like an individual item in your shop, but I want to order an additional or multiples that are similar or the same. Is that possible?

Yes! Some of the individual items for sale in our shop can easily be turned into larger custom sets. Please send us a message with which item you're interested in and any additional details, and we'll see what we can do! Some items are very unique and can't be replicated exactly, but can be included as part of a larger set of similarly designed items.

Custom and personalized orders

Please send us a message if you'd like a custom or personalized order. We commit to them on a per-order basis.

Once a design, time frame, and price are agreed upon you will receive an invoice which must be pre-paid before we will begin production. We send periodic updates during the creative process, and will send a final confirmation for your approval before shipment.

Custom order designs can not be altered after production has started. Minor alterations may be requested.

Wholesale availability

We accept wholesale orders on certain items, and also do custom wholesale orders. View our current linesheet here: https://www.etsy.com/guest-pass/e05c67a9662a5ec28f87c02e
