Just gorgeous! The board is very thick and the wood is beautiful and dark. The inlaid portion makes it even more stunning. I am giving this board as a Christmas gift to a friend who likes to cook. I am certain she will be thrilled. Thank you!

My daughter absolutely loves this cutting board. Very clever! Thank you for sharing your talent.
Sharing the beauty of local California woods.
I've always appreciated the beauty of our local California woods, and I was looking for the opportunity to share some of this beauty with others. After filling our home up with furniture, I branched out to local galleries for while. Lately I have been focusing on ETSY as my outlet for my wares, and on smaller shippable pieces.
Im a one person shop, and I do most of my work on a landing underneath a large blue oak on our hilltop property in Atascadero CA. I source most of my wood from local sawyers, and I favor odd bits and cutoffs that are too "rustic" for most other woodworkers. I favor wood with intense figure and naturally occurring voids or splits, as I can fill them with various types of crushed stone, mixed with resin.
I look to each piece of wood to guide me, and I attempt to cut and finish them in a manner that maximizes their grain exposure, and potential for accepting inlay.
After cutting, cleaning, filling, sanding, grinding, more filling, more sanding, and yet more sanding, I especially enjoy the moment when I lay on the first oil coat onto the piece. The figure pops and the intense contrasting colors of the inlay come alive!
I welcome your questions about my work!
Hello Everyone! My passion for alternate freeform methods of woodworking has evolved over the years, and includes freeform carving and inlay work using colorful natural materials. My focus right now is inlaid platters and serving boards
