Embark on a creative adventure and sew along with me via one of my sewing patterns & tutorials. I take you step by step through the process making it easy to follow along and deceptively easy to create your chosen project...give it a try and I know you can create something special!

All of our sewing patterns and completed handmade items are a "Rustic Horseshoe Original Design". I have created all of our "Rustic Horseshoe Original Designs" completely from scratch starting with a pencil and paper.

I'm no longer taking orders on a "made to order" or "custom" basis...but check my shop to see what beautiful items I have completed and ready to send out. My original signature design stick animals are made from canvas. The materials I select are of high quality and intended to last, and made in the USA wherever possible. Quality counts and is extremely important to me, from the material selection to the craftsmanship!

About RusticHorseShoe

Sales 10,078
On Etsy since 2009

In riding a horse, we borrow freedom ~Helen Thompson

Rustic Horseshoe was born in 2009 when I was searching for work I could do from home in order to be at home with my infant daughter. I had fully intended on being a career woman in my chosen profession of Law Enforcement...but that desire unexpectedly changed after I became a mommy. It wasn't until my son came along in 2011 that I took the leap of faith, left my career behind and made designing and creating my new career. I am so grateful I am still on this venture, continually improving my talents and designs...and eventually getting to my list of new ones I want to create. I wouldn't be here without God's blessings, the support of my family and the support of every single customer!!

I hand create all of my original patterns with a good old fashioned pencil, eraser and paper. Stick horses, plush horses and such have been around for hundreds of years...I hope you enjoy my version of them. My first design was my Classic Stick Horse in the summer of 2009, it has seen many improvements over the years. I keep the very first one I made in my studio as a reminder of where I began and how far I've come.

By following my tutorials and tips, you can easily create treasured heirlooms and keepsakes to be thoroughly enjoyed and loved by the child who first calls it his to be passed onto future generations to love. They are "Tough Enough to Play and Nice Enough to Display" (TM). I still have my childhood stick horse, she was a little overworked and isn't in any condition to be passed onto my children to play with, but she is certainly a treasured reminder of the joys in my childhood and she is reflected in my Classic Stick Horse design. I took her shortcomings for enduring my childhood and incorporated techniques in my own design to prevent or minimize them in order to create a more durable and lasting heirloom quality toy.

I have been around horses my entire life. We always had at least a few at any given time during my childhood. I rode them every chance I could and my dad would use them to drive his carriages, buggies, wagons and carts. Many of my childhood memories are centered around these beautiful creatures. My husband and I currently have two horses, a Quarter Horse and a Thoroughbred whom we adore...and its hard to admit those boys are climbing up in age. I also used both of my boys in the Mounted Unit for the Sedona Police Department during my tenure as a Mounted Patrol Officer. You will see my love for horses and the western lifestyle in many of my designs...but, I simply love animals in general and have a lot of fun designing a variety of them.

I love new challenges and I love hearing from my customers!

Frequently asked questions
How do I know when my order is scheduled to ship?

Prior to purchase, you can find the processing time for the item with the shipping information. I also list my processing time in my shop announcement for made to order items.

Upon purchase, the scheduled "ship by" date will be listed on your electronic Etsy invoice. I will also send an order confirmation message via Etsy convos to confirm your order and reiterate your scheduled ship by date.

I very rarely miss a scheduled ship by date (but life does happen), in which case I will contact you with a new scheduled ship by date. Normally items are shipped on or prior to the ship by date.

If you have a specific deadline, please contact me and I will work with you to meet your deadline.

Returns and Cancelling Orders

The above stated cancellation time frame is 2 days from date of purchase. However, if your item has already been shipped, you may not cancel your order.

Due to the nature of digital files I do not give refunds on digital downloads.

Due to the nature of customized items, unless extenuating circumstances exist, I do not give refunds on customized items.

All returns are subject to a minimum 15% restocking fee. If the item is not in new condition it will be assessed on a case by case basis but it is not eligible for a full refund.

For International returns associated with customs fees, import taxes or VAT please see the "International Customs Fees & Returns" section of my policies.

Rush Order Option

If you need expedited shipping, please contact me PRIOR to purchase with your request. We will discuss the feasibility of meeting your deadline and any appropriate express shipping and/or rush fees that may apply. If the request is made in the notes to seller after purchase without contacting me first, there is no guarantee I can meet your deadline and appropriate express shipping and/or rush fees will be due prior to the item shipping.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Many of my items aren't eligible for gift wrap due to size and/or shape. I am always happy to include a gift note and tie a little festive ribbon on the product at no additional charge. Please contact me or leave your gift message in the notes to seller (titled as a "Gift Message").

International Customs Fees & Returns

The buyer is responsible for all customs, import taxes or VAT fees, as the seller I legally cannot pay them and am not responsible for them. If a package is returned to me due to refusal to pay customs fees your order will be refunded as detailed here:

-No shipping fees will be refunded

-A 20% restocking fee will be retained

-80% of your purchase price (excluding shipping) will be refunded

-If the item was a sewing kit and a digital pattern was e-mailed to you, you will not be refunded for the associated fee for the digital pattern, the 80% refund will apply ONLY to the physical product sent to you due to the nature of digital items.

Material Selections

Substitutions on fabric and other materials becomes necessary at times due to availably or adjustments in the product. Any substitutions will be of equal quality to the current listed item as far as color scheme and general color shade, etc,. If the change in material is largely different than what is pictured, approval will be gained prior to completion of the product.

Hours of Operation

My general hours of operation are Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm MST excluding major holidays. My availability during these hours may vary as I am working on creating items and I will respond to messages as promptly as possible. I am also available by phone during these hours if necessary. Please be mindful of time differences between your location and mine.

Convos and orders made/sent on Saturday or Sunday may not be acknowledged or responded to until Monday; however, I may respond intermittently throughout the weekend. I try to give myself one full day off per week, generally a Sunday.

Shipping Overages

There are times the shipping rate is over calculated by Etsy's calculated shipping...usually when purchasing multiple items. I will refund any overages paid on shipping when the item ships. Orders will be shipped via the selected and paid for shipping method once the item is complete and ready to send. If a better shipping method is available at a rate equal to or less than what you have paid in shipping, I reserve the right to upgrade the shipping method for you.

Undeliverable/Return to Sender Packages

In the event the package I have sent you is returned to me by the carrier service, I will attempt to contact you via Etsy. If the box was incorrectly addressed by me, I will cover the expense to ship it again to the correct address.

If I have addressed the package with the correct address provided on the Etsy receipt or via an address change through an Etsy convo and that address is undeliverable, I will contact you via Etsy and it can be resent with postage paid by you for the new shipment.

If I am unable to get a response from you (buyer), I will issue a partial refund and restock the item(s). A 15% restocking fee will be retained and shipping fees will not be refunded.
