About

Rustic Revivals (and Rural Revivals) ... with Julie A. Johnson

The above photos are just a few of the charming and quaint costumed shots with which Julie presents her two businesses, Rustic Revivals and Rural Revivals (special events/living off the land/renos.). For more ideas on the latter, visit the Rural Revivals' FB page. For Julie and her husband Richard's living off the land/self-sufficient/organic farming blog with some hilarious anecdotes and photos as well as great tips, recipe-shares, etc., see www.bluebellmountainblog.wordpress.com For items and ideas for custom weddings/brides - see old video on Toronto-area television: http://www.chch.com/wedding-wednesday-natural-weddings/

After being disabled by spondylolisthesis, and having had 3 back surgeries, I had to quit some of the competitive coaching and riding I was doing in the equestrian world I loved so much, and go back to teaching school. After 15 years of that, even those stresses became too much for my spine and knees, so I am now self-employed and along, with my husband and mother, attempting to live as self-sufficiently as possible off the land on our farm on the New Brunswick/Maine border, and while trying to save both our environment and our history through Rustic Revivals and my other business, Rural Revivals I am enjoying feeling freer and in less pain.
....After decades happily living and working in two farmhouses in Ontario, Canada, a log cabin in the Rockies in Montana, and two stone cottages - one in the highlands of Scotland and the other in Northern England, I am not only sharing my love of saving history and the countryside/environment, but also expressing my passions for antiques and collectibles (instilled in me by both sets of grandparents) and NATURAL art. Assisted by my supportive mother, Joy, with her enthusiasm for many of the same old-fashioned styles, and encouraged by my husband Richard, with his graphic design and business acumen, I am lucky to be now living near the Maine border, in New Brunswick, self-sufficiently enjoying living off-grid and - well, RURALLY & RUSTICALLY, of course!

Unless you are a Canadian buyer, we are shipping from Maine, USA, which will get to you much faster and much cheaper! We ship to the United States via USPS, we ship to Canada via Canada Post. These prices have recently gone up for 2017, so sorry - expect a bit of an increase from our 2016 prices. What comes up is what you'll be charged, but we wish it was lower, truly! If overseas, we will get the BEST price and quickest-estimated time from either of these. If you're over-charged by Etsy for the shipping, we will reimburse!
