About

Passion for shiny objects

For over 40 years John and Rita have been collecting treasures from nature. Since retiring, they both took classes at the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in northern Georgia, bought saws, grinders and polishers and set to work creating wearable art from their collections.

Much of their leisure time is spent prospecting for new materials, even to the extent of planning vacations to places where they can collect more treasures. They have been known to introduce friends to mining in the Keweenaw Peninsula for copper ore and teaching family members how to search for beach and sea glass.

Since relocating to sunny Florida, their “workshop” is in their house and garage where you can see piles and piles of raw material and works in progress. John and Rita love to sell their jewelry so that they will have an excuse to make more!

Here’s a picture of me collecting sea glass – a great beach activity. My husband and I collect most of the raw material we use for our jewelry pieces then he does the lapidary work and I take over from there.
