About

Crafty by nature, successful by chance.

In March of 2010, I joined my high school's prom committee. Our idea for a fun and easy fundraiser was to make simple candy stripe friendship bracelets. Unfortunately for the committee, the principal denied it as a legitimate fundraiser. Fortunately for me, though, I now knew how to make bracelets and could sell them myself. I learned different styles of bracelets and sold them to order for a little over two years.

In those two years, I became an admin on a global bracelet website: friendship-bracelets.net. I learned how to make and edit patterns, regulate comments and posts, and gained a group of fantastic friends in my fellow admins. We made a group on Facebook where we could share not only our bracelets, but also our lives together. Two babies, several new crafts, and four years later, we have become a family.

Along with my knotty group on Facebook, I followed another bracelet maker's page: Quiet Mischief and Company (find their etsy here: www.etsy.com/shop/QuietMischief). When I first liked the page, she only made bracelets. But months later, she began making duct tape roses...and I fell in love! I knew that it would be my next craft to try. I asked around to family and friends to see if anyone had some duct tape they'd be willing to donate for me to try. My friend Barbara gave me a roll of Flamingo Pink tape in the summer of 2012. With that roll, I made my first duct tape rose and a new world opened up before my eyes.

I gathered supplies (tape, x-acto knife, cutting board, and YouTube), and began to make rose pens, rings, earrings, purses, paintings, bracelets, and wallets. I participated in a few art galleries at my college, and was well received. Soon after, I opened up my Facebook page and etsy store (February and March 2013, respectively).

I thought that was the end of my craft-ward expansion, but my hands were itching for something new by late May 2014. A few weeks later, I decided to invest in a hand stamping letter set, jewelry supplies, and several hours of my time. Soon after, I had made several necklaces, bracelets, and key chains to sell to friends and family.
