The Spirit of Sacred Dreams

Sacred Dreams started in 1998 as a collaboration between my god-daughter, Katie Marie, and I to sell our Native American beadwork. This was before online shopping, so we would show our products at PowWows and through word of mouth.

When Katie passed away suddenly from a tragic accident, I decided to honor her memory by developing the business further and venturing into the online market. At the time, I was making mostly beaded barrettes, earrings, and other beaded jewelry, dream catchers and native inspired items. I enjoyed much success and know it made Katie proud.

I became disabled in 2005 and while I continued to create beaded jewelry and crafts, life became more difficult. I stopped making jewelry and beadwork in 2011. The market was saturated in favor of cheaper, more easily mass produced jewelry and artwork. My heart felt that it was a good time to close that chapter of my life.

Recently, I've been learning to make hair bows for my granddaughter, who finally has hair long enough to use them. A spark was lit as I played with ribbon and color and a desire to learn more was born. I've been working on developing new techniques and am enjoying the passion of creating once again!

My work isn't perfect, nor am I. A Native elder once told me that all of the things we create has a flaw somewhere, for we are not the creator, who is perfect. So if you find a flaw or something just not quite as perfect as it could be, please remember that I am striving every day to be closer to the creator, but I am still human.

Blessings

I love color! I love beads and ribbon, and shiny things! I'm a disabled mom of three grown boys, and a beautiful granddaughter. Creating and crafting are my passion. It makes me so happy to share my treasures with others.
