A little about us...

Creation and art, in some form, runs through the blood of my family. Both of my grandmother's crocheted and knitted, my cousin is an avid knitter and my mother and sister are knitters and crocheters like myself, along with painters, woodworkers, and many other media throughout the family. We just must create!

I can remember as a child going to my Grandma Zarria's house and spending nights there, she would always be crocheting something with crochet thread and a small hook. The thing I remember her making the most was miniature hats for our barbies and dolls and anything else tiny we wanted to put hats on. She loved to crochet so much that she even used some fishing line when she could not find any more crochet thread to use! It is an art that she taught my sister and I from a young age that we have continued to practice over the years.

We also picked up knitting and enjoyed learning and creating as children. Only after a weekend Holiday visit with my cousin from Michigan about 6 years ago did we really steep ourselves into the world of knitting though. Circular needles also changed my life! From then my mom, my sister and I have been knitting up a storm and loving every minute of it!

After my first daughter was born, I realized I no longer was in school taking art classes and I needed to have an outlet at home for my need to create...thus Saffron and Nutmeg was born. Over the years our products have evolved from Sterling Silver Jewelry to Knit and Sewn Accessories.

Over the past few years I have also entangled my mom and sister in the business. From knitting and pattern design to behind the scenes paperwork, they are never allowed to leave!

From the sourcing and ordering, to the pattern design and brainstorming, to the knitting and sewing we do it all here in my little living room! We love to create and design our items and send each one off with good wishes to a new home!
